I think the coaches are trying to get the best players on the field even if they're a bit out of position. And if that means burning redshirts you do it with where we are at, perhaps all those red shirt d-backs couldn't have helped in the secondary last year, but there must be some feeling that they should have put some of them out there if for nothing else but special teams. If a guy on this team can run down a kick (or field one for that matter) then they need to be out there not to mention play in a package they need to see the field. Mentioning Muema was interesting, i'm high on him from what i've seen and heard from some people in the area, but thought his injury might preclude him even being considered; he seems like he could be a ronnie brown type in this offense

Couple of notes on Ruffin from the first practice. First he looks thicker than 190 or 200 lbs. - more like 205-210.
Second, if he is going to return kicks this year he needs to spend extra time working on catching kicks.

He can be as fast and ellusive as anyone, but if he lays the ball down he is a huge liability. It could have been first practice jitters but I think I saw at least five drops. 5 drops seems like a lot to me. Hope that is was first practice jitters.

I hope Ruffin moving to RB is not the begining of bouncing him around for 4 years and never learning a position...... then again.... it's only been a few practices. I'll calm down now.
Let's hope Hoke is just finding a way to get him on the field and create match-up problems.... motion into the slot ?

Guy was dropping passes, too. Were they passes from Lindley or by his back ups, causing Ruffin to have alligator arms? You know what happens when you expose ribs due to s#!++y passes.

TC Wright was pretty good back also. Marshall's breakout game against Pacific when he scored 7 TD's he only played 3 quarters. TC Wright did a good job against Miami before Marshall arrived. I was sitting in the 50 yard line seats when Long Beach State came to town. When they gave the ball to some kid wearing no. 28, we all were wondering, "Who was that?" He had explosiveness, acceleration and speed we've never seen before. His legs were a blur and he gained 10 yards almost instantly. Oldie Out

It will nice seeing some backs with game-breaking talent.
It's been a long drought.
O-Line....please do your job. Block for the RBs and protect our QB. We lose him, we're screwed.

Did anyone else notice that in Ruffin's YouTube highlight video, he never once carried the ball in his right hand/arm, even when he was running to his right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vMb03dwSXA

I can't wait to see this kid play. I think he will be a difference maker right away. With his long strides and ability to accelerate the way he does his name should be changed to Gazelle Ruffin.
