I turned on the tv to see that these are going on right now and while watching it I just can't help being so frustrated that the great Don Coryell is not already in the HOF and if/when he gets in there he won't be able to deservedly accept his rightfull position in canton. Why is this even in question with the voters? Don't they see the contributions he has made to the game? I know I'm not the only one who feels this way and I just wanted to express some frustration on this matter. I could go on but we all know Mr. Coryell is already a hall of famer now.

We know about Coryell and the kind of guy he was. Just consider the memorial service. As far as I am concerned, the NFL Hall of Fame could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn't care.

I'm torn on Coach Coryell's induction into the Hall of Fame now.
It meant a lot to me while he was still alive - I wanted him to be able to enjoy it. Now? I guess for his family it would be great, but I can't help but feel that the voters for the Hall should just forget it. They snubbed him while he was alive and that really bothers me (as much as a Hall of Fame snubbing of somone can bother me).
For his family's sake - and to make those who played or coached for him happy - I guess I do hope that they induct him next year, but I just wish that they had done so sooner.

I wanted but could not watch as Coach should have been there. No question. Jerry Rice, Emmit Smith ok and all respect as Coryell would have loved him but John Randle ahead of Don Corryell? You gotta be kidding me. If the excuse is that Coryell never won the Super Bowl, I ask . . . . what did John Randle ever win? Even Dick Lebeau, c'mon man. They all deserved it but Coach should have been there years ago.

Today's Sporting News online, in a look ahead, declared two NFL HOF first ballot slam dunks for 2011: Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk. I agree with Carpediemaztec: no argument at all about Rice and Smith(first balloters if there ever were any), but there was nothing compelling about the others inducted. Don Coryell should have been inducted this year -- or earlier. Maybe two Aztecs in 2011.

That is a real thing btw. How is the voting tallied?

I was listening to a nationally syndicated show on the radio yesterday, and they were talking about Jerry Kramer not being in, and Don Coryell came up and they kind of dismissed him even though he was a winner and an innovator simply because, "He didn't even make it to the Super Bowl," figuring that all the other non Super Bowl winning coaches in the Hall at least made it to the Super Bowl.
That thinking really hurt Coach Coryell. Of course, they forget to mention that he's still the only coach to win 100 games in both college and the pros.
And then there is that innovator thing. His coaching disciples have won a few Super Bowls...

I think chapionships determine the very best from the best as in Karl Malone doesn't deserve in the conversation with say Kareem, but, it isn't like Karl Malone then belongs in the conversation with AC Green.
