LA times is reporting Adrian Klemm is joining Mora's staff at UCLA. www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-1214-ucla-football-20111214,0,7902160.story bottom of article Klemm is considered one of the best recruiters in the county (I know K5james thinks highly of him). Take a look at SMU's classes the last few years. A blow to the Aztecs?

Yeah huge hire. I think they got Beuerlein as well. Mora is putting together a monster recruiting staff. Just means coach White and company are going to have to work extra hard.

I remember people saying there was no way he'd leave SMU for UCLA. UCLA now has Klemm and Broussard on board, two of the best recruiters in the country and are waiting to hear whether Noel Mazzone accepts the OC job. They are putting together a very good staff.
Now that Klemm has left SMU for UCLA you could see Carl Hulick (C-3 star), Robert Lewis (RB-3 star), and Gabriel Marks (WR-4 star) all from California re-open their recruitment.

Add Petway to that list but there has been some recent talk that notre dame is strong with marks, hopefully we can still snag lewis but I got a feeling he will end up at UCLA.

Didnt' we read this year that Neuheisel was disenchanted with lack of support from UCLA adminstration, tired facilities, etc. Wonder how coaching change plays into that?

As all the coaches who have come thru here have said over decades, all the talent you can hope for is within 120 miles of Montezuma Mesa. Plenty to go around. You just have to get your share. Our short term objective is to get about 5 kids a year who are legit PAC 12 offered. That is beginning to happen and wedon't really have to beat out USC, UCLA even. Would be nice, but not necessary. We are beginning to get some commits from kids offered by Colorado, OSU, maybe UA and ASU. A good sign.

Mora's choices are looking solid on recruiting, however, as 'coaches' he is bringing on and/or considering are coming from underperforming programs as to records while having 3 & 4 star recruits....is it that the recruits were not all that good or was it that the coaches were great recruiters, but suspect coaches or a combination? Not too sure about the potential choice of Marques Tuiasosopo as his QB coach...I will take Brian Sipe 'ALL DAY LONG' as not only can he coach, but he was the MVP of the NFL one year which is much stronger than the comment about Klemm & Broussard having "played" on Sundays...the coaching staff at SDSU is heads and above that which Mora is putting together right now as CL's staff is able to 'coach' the 2 & 3 star recruits into players that can complete against any and all while having been a non-BCS institution...the future is bright on the Mesa and let the 'fair' competition begin as the BCS negative & lack of TV exposure is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Demetrice Martin, University of Washington cornerbacks coach, is headed to UCLA as well.
He's regarded as one of UW's better recruiters, one of the assistants who handles the southern California area.

The majority of commits Dennis had were from CA & actually SoCal. Maybe Rocky can go after 1 or 2, how about the kid from Rancho Cucamonga?

Does not mean a thing to the Aztecs this year. Recruiting season is virtually complete. It will mean something immediately if the three SoCal kids who verbaled to SMU and then took official visits to SDSU decommit to UCLA rather than to us.

UCLA will do what it always has done, conjure visions of how it used to be in the minds of recruits and send the recruiters in their homes with the stories of how great the Bruins of the past were and will be again. Bottom line, their problem was they had become lazy and soft and yearning for the past. There will always be San Diego kids that want the Pac-12 prestige. SDSU just needs to get its share to play for the AZTECS! Also, UCLA looks like it wants to turn into the Multi-formation Spread Offense, they want to be the Oregon of the Pac-12 South. My projection is that USC and Utah will continue to dominate the Pac-12 south. USC because it gets the best SoCal athletes and Utah because it gets some of the SOCAL athletes and the best OL and DL out of Hawaii and Utah. The rest of the PAC-12 south will all be spread offense want-to-be Oregon type offenses. SDSU will do just fine against the PAC-12 in recruiting offensive players as only a few will run the pro-style offense. On recruiting defensive players, Rock Long will continue to recruit his type of players and "grow" the nose-tackle position as he is doing now. Wallkonfan...GO STATE! ;D

This is why I wanted to Neuheisal to stay at UCLA, the new guy has a chance to make it a much better program and more of a threat to SDSU.

Believe Rocky said on the radio the other day , the toughest competition in recruiting will come from the PAC-12, new hires all have big names in the football circles and the returning coaches are good recruiters . They are on ESPN - we still are on the MTN,they get auto bowl bid , plus even UCLA got bowl bid with the waiver- so it will be tough recruiting against them. Recruiting season stays open until they SIGN in Feb , so nothing is final until they put their name on the dotted line.

You can offer a kid a free ride but you can't deter them from their wishes to play for their dream school. If a kid is on the fence about his decision, we have a chance to land him. If they're hard up to go to a certain school or conference, you show them some love but keep your contingency plan intact (a plan B or C recruit as a backup).
Oldie Out
