I don't see mention of this so. I caught The Rock with Coach Kentera this a.m and he was bullish about recruiting. From memory, they now have 16 commits, 6 from SD County. Expects to have his full complement of 25 verbal committed in January. He said the Big East news is being received very positively by recruits and their families and expects the strength of it will be even more important when there is face to face in early 2012. It was the most positive I've heard him.

Yep, this is going to be BIG for recruting. Why play in Pullman, Corvalis, etc...when you can stay home and play in a BCS Conference in front of your family and friends.

Rocky was on their show during Thanksgiving- said he was in favor of the move to the BE. He also said he has been focusing on the Bowl , then would be out recruiting as soon as they finish the game. Can not talk about any recruits until they sign in Feb.Wonder if Marshall F. could connect the staff to some players from N.O. or the S.E. area

Just remembered that he added the we are doing well vs. Big 12 and Big 10 teams in recruiting!!! Not necessarily vs. Pac 12. Not sure what to make of that.

Not sure what to make of that. unless the big east gets a real 'west' divison i think SDSU will be 2nd to the PAC in recruiting. Players that would go to the Big 12 or 10 now have a chance to stay in san diego and be in a BCS conference, but if you are being recruited by the PAC most of your games are on the west coast, i think that is the big difference

It has more to do with these kids growing up seeing PAC games on TV all of the time in SoCal. They'd play more games close to home playing at SDSU than they would playing at any non-CA PAC school.

This move is HUGE for football recruiting.

so is the assumption that with SDSU having a much better tv deal where all their games can be seen nationally and continued winning being the main key, i.e 10 wins a season, the aztecs will be able to out recruit the PAC eventually? Is that the sleeping giant? that san diego will become a more preferred location than other schools, or that we will be able to keep our San Diego kids?

We still won't be able to out recruit the USC's and Oregon's of the world who get most so cal talent but it should help against the likes of UCLA, ASU,UA and such. The Big east will definitely help but the Pac 12 is still thought of much more highly by recruits.

Rocky said 6 from the local area I think he ment the 3 from SD and Morin, Queen and Maass. But the 16 # of total commitments surprised me I'm wondering who the other commitment is

If not preferred, at least on a much more level playing field.
