Agree, dshaw. Thought it a good article. There was a side article concerning Preston King and undisclosed medical issue(s). Hope it's nothing serious. I'd like to see him back on the field.

Yeah I noticed that on yesterday's media day thread, and just like you, I hope it is not serious and he is able to bring his savvy to the field this year. Man the Wyo and Unlv games just stick in my craw still; sure hope we redeem ourselves this season.

Whenever I read Hoke comments I always feel like he's my kinda guy. His remarks are just on the money! It has long been my view that the toughest thing he has to deal with is the loser mentality on the Mesa, that he has to turn a bunch of people used to losing around. His second greatest obstacle to success is a lack of talent, but dealing with the first problem can soften the blow of talent deficiency. He's been addressing the talent issue, and from his remarks he's been hard on the trail of the mentality problems. Maybe this is the year that his lessons take. I thought Canepa's column was very measured. I think he, like many of us, is a long suffering Aztec fan, and where he may be optimistic, he is very guarded w/ his optimism. Expectations have to be kept in check! The side article about Preston King was worrisome. Being out for an extended time is exactly how long? Ugh!

I thought Canepa's column was very measured. I think he, like many of us, is a long suffering Aztec fan The only thing I've ever had against the guy was his constant brown nosing of Ted Tollner, who some claimed was his golfing buddy. (I have no idea whether that was true or not but Canepa DID brown nose Tollner. Big time.) Why others have derided Canepa for criticizing the football program is beyond me. The guy's an alumnus like most of us and - like me at least - simply became disgusted with the way the administration allowed what was once a very upwardly mobile team become a major turd. |

If you ever read the comments made by readers in regard to SDSU, there is a poster named "Twolips" that takes great delight in badmouthing the Aztecs. In this particular case, Twolips badmouthed Hoke over his career record and the fact that he left Ball State to join the Aztecs before the season was over. That is why you see the response of "77." |
