If I read it correctly, New Mexico St. (for example) is able to offer 46.2% more $$$ to opponents than SDSU. What the heck is that about???
My guess is about $200k-$300k of revenue should be generated from tickets/parking/concessions - not including radio and TV - from a sell-out crowd. Can't we can't afford more than $65k for an opponent (when chump programs offer $95k)?

I don't understand it either. Why would we just pay the extra money!!! We already a pretty good OOC schedule with St. Mary's, USD and Witchita St. We should add to these games and make the non-conference exciting and we will get close to selling out games. The money will come but we must invest so the university can see a return on this great team.
St. Mary's will have a good draw its the first Home game so that will be a great atmosphere(Pending a meltdown by the Aztecs on the road)
USD( enough said. City Championship)
Witchita State(Bragging rights for MWC over MVC)
Its okay to throw in a cupcake game but lets try to get at least 2 more solid games on the home schedule.

Does athletics get a taste of the parking and concessions or is that the school and Aztec shops? Does our taste come from student fees?
The extra money brouhaha seems to be a non-issue: I don't understand how it would affect home and homes (which would be the majority if not all the better teams we play) and if we're just buying teams for a singe home game, why bother spending more? I don't think a marquee opponent is going to come out for a single away game (they'd likely do a home and home anyways)
1.5 million in the hole means limitations on everything, including spending an extra 30k so we can get RPI 100 instead of RPI 150 to come out.

Don't assume the Athletic Department is dumb and we all are smarter. They get paid big bucks to run the program. If we had the money we would pay it. The woman get the great games and more people do not show up. They have more scholarships so they have a bigger budget there. We don't have the extra money to move around. If we did we would do a lot more. You don't want to stop giving out of State Scholarships and put the money into pays. How about title 9 issues.
Believe me the more you know the more frustrated you get. I served on the Board. To see us lose a football game that costs us us A Bowl game raises your blood pressure.
If you think you feel bad how do you think Fisher feels? UCLA has the money and buys home games.
Help sell tickets and you will get what you wish.
Can you see why we lost Beth years ago? San Diego did nor support her then and still doesn't.
Look at the Power UT has. 100,000 football fans, 22,000 basket ball fans for mens basketball and 13,000 for woman's. Now how can you do what they can do. It has nothing to do with being smart. We are dam lucky to have 2 great basketball teams. Did we not almost lose our men's assistant basketball coach? Did Beth not lose her top assistant coach? Just may be Fisher had to chose keeping a good coach to recruit then to pay out more money for a game that San Diego fans will not come to see.

we need to get fans to the games, true SDSU fans should not need a top team(know it helps) to visit to fill the V , the team and its home record is very good the last few years. If people want to see those other big name schools they need to sell out home games now, so we can use the money to get other teams, keep good coaches and recruit players. Players want to play in front of a full home court . Do you think the St Mary's/NIT game and the BYU games helped recruit some players.( did we lose some recruits ,with only 5-7k at games last year-)

Right, what do you think Fisher is trying to do? He is working hard at it, but many are too scared to play us. They don't want to lose to a team that hasn't won in the NCAA Tournament yet. That will change, but until then they are chicken. Did you read the article in the UT about it? Go Aztecs!!! ;D

a collective( sports fans, alums, students, creative marketeers) job, to sell out the V for every game to get money for the program, and the football stadium , to get money into the program. Money from ticket sales /strong alum programs and winning teams dictate policy- getting quality teams on our sidelines and other schools willing to travel here for games.

You would think we could land some games with some so cal schools such as UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Pepperdine and LMU.

It's an easy trip for them and reward for and selling tool for their alumni and chance for them to play one of the best team out west. We don't need to spend 30k to get a marginally better team to fly in, we need to continue to be solid and play good teams home and home.

Fans definitely don't show up for games against UCSD, Pt Loma Nazarene or even Northern Arizona.

Easy travel and also save money on traveling. All you have to do is rent a bus for the team and pay for there meals. It would be great to have a So Cal tournament.

It seems like in Fish's early years we were playing these teams. Why can't we get them now? Barely any travel costs for them. The will take the 60K. But, I also read that UCSB wants no part of us now as well.
