Host a tail-gate for two or three other families, especially if they have kids (7-14 year-olds) who need fun things to do on a Saturday afternoon evening, and help by getting cheap tickets for them. For away games, host parties at your house, beer and brats and bad-for-you-food. Even if they're not into the Aztecs yet, lots of people will come over for food and fun and football. That's the spirit! Go Aztecs!!!

they really need to find a way to get to the Alums, that this is a make it or break it year for Sports at SDSU, what can they do help get fans in the stands, buy tickets , help market, promote, sponsor a giveaway - show their AZTEC pride- start with football and then on to other events

I try in different ways, but here is the one I have found to be most effective. I buy an extra season ticket to football (sometimes 2). I then start early in the week inviting people I might think are interested in going. I might invite 4 people. Usually one or two are interested in going and most games I can get at least one to go. I don't charge them for the tickets. I tell them it is my treat. Almsot all that go have a great time and a few of them have ended up buying season tickets on their own. When I get them to the game, I spend time with them explaining the past (I think it is a mistake to not do that). I tell them that once we were great and we have fallen on hard times. I tell them to not expect a win that night, but for the team to give it there all. I tell them that the loyal fans you see here are trying to help get fans interested in the program again. It appears to me when I do that, the new fan sees us as the underdog and feels like he wants to help. Right on Steve. I buy 3 extras season tickets. I offer free tailgate food and beer, and free beers inside, and I usually end up leaving the tickets on the parking barrier outside the ticket office. Hopefully demand will ramp up a bit.

This is a good topic. As diehards we need to do little things to try to get more people to the game. I always invite people to come along with me to the games (sadly interest has been so low I often end up going solo).

did one of the other posters say the AD department was thinking that it would be a great idea if some of the teams wear their sport's t-shirts and help the dorm students on a move in day,(if it did not conflict with practice.) would be a great way to connect to students - A chance to hand out schedules at the least

To build upon what people have been saying; educating friends about the $56 cost of season tickets. Yesterday, i spoke to this guy at my work and told him the cost, today he came into work and he and his friend are each getting a season ticket package.

Any chance of a street team of sorts. Someone to organize the over zealous fan that fan that want to contribute more. I know music bands that need more support do this all the time. It's a free way to get word of mouth going at a faster pace. I would definitely help out. Sign me up. I'm in.

Another way is to help pass out the pocket schedules. When do those come out and are available for us to help out and pass to the community?
Awesome job Steve for buying the extra tickets and trying to give them away to others.
I think it has been stated that one of the best ways is to buy a ticket and go to every game. But it's not enough to just attend, be loud, cheer, stand, make noise. Let's make it an atmosphere like when there are 60k charger fans in the Q. SD has shown that it can be done. Some of those games can get REAL loud. We want to try to create that for Aztec games too.
