#4 San Pasqual Golden Eagles (8-2-1) at #1 Poway Titans (10-0-1)

Two months after their epic game that ended in a tie, these North County contenders will have another go at it. Only this time a trip to the D-I title game is on the line. Both teams were unbeaten going into that late September match-up but since then Poway has ran the table while San Pasqual suffered 2 losses. The victor here will meet the winner of Eastlake & Vista at the Q on Monday night.

#3 Oceanside Pirates (8-2-1) at #2 La Costa Canyon Mavericks (9-2)

Oceanside's road to a 14th CIF title must go through La Costa Canyon where they will attempt to avenge their week 9 loss to the Mavericks. LCC should come into this game confident enough to make it two in a row but the healthier and improved defending D-II champions will be a tougher challenge this time around. The winner will take on either Helix or Mission Hills in the finals.

#3 Valley Center Jaguars (10-1) at #2 Madison Warhawks (10-0-1)

This match will be the 4th consecutive season that these teams met in the D-IV playoffs. Two of those match-ups took place in the finals where they each have a victory against each other. The winner here will play the winner of Coronado & Santana for the title.

I've got to say that Poway's got the advantage. They're undefeated - that tells you all you need to know about them.

Vista's a scrappy little team - the little football engine that could! They don't have much in the way of size or speed or strength, but what they do have is great coaching and a bunch of kids with a lot of heart and determination. It's a never say die kind of team. They hang around and hang around and find ways to win.

Whether or not they can match up with Poway is the $64,000 question. We'll find out on Monday...

Last season I believe Valley Center was ranked #1 in the state but underdog Madison came ready to play and ended up blowing them out. I think Vista will come into this game highly confident and possibly pull off an upset. I can't wait, should be a fun football filled day. Will Hitek Radio be in the house?

LOL, bring it! I have been watching Coach Gonzales's team play all year. But will admit to not seeing even one Vista game. May the best team win!

Madison was a good team, but they faced a team depleted with injury and the flu. This year in a down rebuilding year for Valley Center, the Jags won.

One note about Vista for the Championhip game - their #1 running back (Jacob Bedford) is out. He went down with a serious ankle injury on his 3rd carry against Eastlake and had to be carried off. Another injury worth noting is that their biggest, most athletic D-lineman (Patrick Johnson - also a TE) may be out with an ankle injury as well.
