At the very least it seems Hoke and crew are going after the players they want versus waiting for scraps. Come January I'll take some stud scraps too, but you know what I mean.
We are at about 13 recruits. Pretty soon Hoke will have to start being judicious about who he takes - just in case he needs room to land some studs who may fall through the cracks.

We're picking up good players from average/bad teams instead of picking over the championship HS teams against BCS recruiters.

I noticed this too. The biggest shift is that we're offering guys that the staff has seen in their camps. Hell, it's a big shift that we have camps to begin with.

Hell, it's a big shift that we have camps to begin with. Bing-#@%$#@$#@-o. So many of these kids are from the camps: the staff has a feel for them, sees their abilities and weaknesses, sees their motor and interaction with the other higher tiered players. Many of these kids are out there with D1 talent fighting for D1 schollys, they obviously have someone in their ear sending them to camps (coaches, family, advisers) and that says more. These are the kids that go to camps to get better and get noticed, that are likely hiring a trainer in the summer, that are hungry. We need some dogs that like the taste of meat but have to fight to get after the rib bone thrown out there. As Sipe said in a quote, that one of our poster has, ~we have enough fast guys, we need football players

I noticed this too. It's the exact opposite of what they did last year. All the coaches last year made a big deal about how they got kids from winning programs to help change the mentality of the program. They wanted kids who knew how to win and were use to it.

Looking over all their commits, it doesn't seem at all that these players are from avg/bad teams.. It seems as if the Staff is sticking to the plan of finding talent and offering talent that comes from good/winning teams.. Seems as tho 1. These players are guys that BCS schools come to later on after all the 5 stars are committed.. Look at how many recruits we offered early and were there first offers having ended up committing to BCS schools! Finding talent before it hits the mainstream shows the hard work and dedication of the staff to het better thru recruiting and finding talent 2. The high majority of these commits still come from demanding winning programs.. Glendora-competitive Santiago- upper division team Madison- loaded with talent West Adams- new school wins 8+ Redlands-upper team in conference Los Osos- upper team national recruits Gardena- mid level team that was loaded Diamond Ranch - always tops in conf Coronado- one if not best team in Elpaso Centennial- state championship program Chapp- tops in con national recruits
These are damn good programs producing damn fine football players.. The staff looks to be identifying talent early, players that seem to make plays on consistent winning football teams!!

According to Rivals we just offered a LB from Mullen HS, #1 team in Colorado & #33 in the country. So the staff is looking at the successful programs too.
