H. Admission Requirements
The Helix Charter High School will actively recruit a diverse student population from the prior attendance area of the Helix Charter School and the District who understand and value the school's mission and are committed to the school's instructional and operational philosophy.
Admission to the school shall be open to any resident of the State of California. Prospective students and their parents or guardians will be briefed regarding the school's instructional and operational philosophy and will be given a copy or summary of the school's student-related policies.
Helix Charter High School will adopt and maintain policies granting admissions preference to students who live in the previously existing attendance area and the Grossmont District, along with policies granting admission preferences to prospective students who apply and meet the qualifications for one of the identified unique programs.
If desired attendance exceeds Helix Charter High School’s enrollment capacity, admission will be determined by a lottery process.
Students, parents/guardians, and staff must sign and agree to the conditions listed on the Helix Charter Contract, which outlines the responsibilities of students, parents/guardians, and the staff.
Incoming students will be assessed for optimum placement in the school program. Each year, students and parents/guardians must attend their registration appointment in order for the student to be enrolled at Helix Charter.
Parents are assured that Helix Charter High School adheres to the following:
• Helix Charter is a non-sectarian school.
• Helix Charter does not charge a fee or tuition.
• Helix Charter does not discriminate against children on the basis of gender, culture or disability.
