Is he a free agent after this year? I've heard comments that we control him for next year as well. If so, that's pretty rad. For as well as the Padres are playing, pretty much everybody is a free agent next year. Keeping Ludwick around the middle of the order would be very nice.

According to articles I've read, he is under control for one more year, and is arbitration eligible next year.

This Site (bookmark it) will answer all contract questions in MLB. It is a great resource for baseball fans. Ludwick will have 5 years of service after this season. He is arbitration eligible so he should get around $6 million but the Padres and he should agree before it goes to Arbitration. After next year he will be a free agent with 6 years of service. Free Agents next yearMiguel Tejada Kevin Correia Jerry Hairston Jr. David Eckstein Matt Stairs Jon Garland $6.75 2011 contract with Mutual option to void. 300K for player. 600K for team. Yorvit Torrealba $3.5 2011 contract with Mutual option to void. 500K for each.
