. . . can be summarized in just six words: Can't we all just get along?Seriously, I generally favor libertarian ideas and solutions, but that does not mean a libertarian has to be live in a dream world. Paul, many of whose economic ideas I support, just makes no sense when it comes to dealing with people who have sworn to destroy us. That group may well be small in number. The problem is that with WMDs a fact of life, it does not take a massive army to destroy a city. Yes, we definitely should be concerned about protecting civil liberties. On the other hand, it's foolish to pretend that we can enhance our national security simply by being a bit nicer to those who sincerely seek our destruction. No one who believes that has any business being taken seriously as a candidate for the U.S. presidency. spectator.org/archives/2011/11/22/ron-pauls-submissive-sideAzWm

His response: spectator.org/blog/2011/11/23/the-anti-semitism-of-ron-paulNote that he pulls the anti-Semitic card immediately. I've written a couple of times about a Jewish friend telling me back in '69 that liberals were going to have to decide if they could support Israel no matter what (and Joe, I don't need to see your bleating about Jewish self guilt yet again) and he was quite correct. I support Israel and have supported the country since I was a teenager, but support should never be unconditional and criticism of their policies shouldn't automatically result in charges of anti-semitism. And what's really sad is the Israeli right is willing to align themselves with this country's Religious Reich that only cares about Israel because they believe in the religious myth that without Israel there cannot be a 2nd coming. I mean really, in the '50s, '60s and '70s it was the Democrats, not the Republicants, who supported Israel. =Bob

I cannot resist the temptation, Bob. There are a lot of misguided Jews who hate being Jews and hate their Jewishness and blame all of their persecution on their Jewishness. With that in mind, they find fault with anything that the Jewish people do that is of their own accord. "If it is Jewish it has to be bad."
So any time I see a Jew disparage anything and everything Jewish, I figure that it is just some lost soul who is shell shocked by his ancestry. That is fine. They are entitled to challenge their birth right when that birth right so often leads to their persecution and death.

Sorry Joe, but your comments above as well as your comments when I referenced this in the past show that you really have no understanding at all about Jews or their sensibilities. Where did I ever write that he " disparage anything and everything Jewish"? He was a quite devote Jew and you belief in "Jewish guilt" shows nothing more than your ignorance of the belief system of liberal American Jews. =Bob

I know many, many Jews who are self hating Jews. I try to reason with them about the majesty of their ancestry but they hate their ancestry just the same. It is you, bob, who lacks understanding.
