Request TheMtn on Time Warner... again

I know this issue has been discussed way too much. However, it sounds like there is one big new push to get TheMtn on Time Warner in SD. I received this email from the conference via SDSU. I called TW this morning and the customer service lady said that I was the second person to call and request today. I had called before, but thought Id give it one last try. Nothing may come from it, but a 5 min phone call and a chance?....why not!? Here is a copy of the letter I received:

As you have probably read over the last few weeks, this is a very important time for the Mountain West Conference. We are thrilled to add Boise State to the Conference, and although Utah is leaving, the league is stronger than ever.

Support for the conference is growing as well. Regarding the upcoming football season, San Diego State looks to be much improved in Brady Hoke's second year as Head Coach.

Watching conference games continues to be a priority at the Mountain West Conference. With that in mind, I am reaching out to you, your fellow alumni, friends, and all Mountain West Conference supporters to rally behind the Aztecs and our television partner – The Mtn. (The Mountain West Sports Network). The Mtn. is already available in San Diego on Cox Cable and DirecTV; however, it is not yet available on Time Warner Cable.

If you are a Time Warner Cable subscriber, and a fan of San Diego State athletic programs and institution, I encourage you to show your Aztec pride and request that Time Warner Cable add The Mtn. in time for football season.

The Mtn. is the nation's first cable network dedicated entirely to a single college athletic conference. It's the ultimate resource for any Aztec fan who wants to stay on top of everything that's happening in the conference. Importantly, there are half a dozen SDSU games scheduled on The Mountain West Sports Network in 2010, including SDSU at BYU on October 9th.

I sent an E Mail to the address listed in the E Mail I received. Don't have the patience to go through the Time Warner phone tree and usually long wait to talk to someone (boy, they are the worst!).

Glad to see coordinated action by the conference and the University on this subject. It's about time they took aggressive steps to bring the MTN to San Diego. That has been one of my big complaints since the founding of the MTN--they signed the contract, set up the network and once it got on TV's in Colorado, Idaho and Utah gave up working on it for San Diego. Now there is pressure from the conference and an effort to do something.

As I said, about time!

Five years ago I called Time Warner and signed up for the Sports Pack that was to have TheMtn.

Still waiting. Whenever I have a service issue I ask about TheMtn and the response is always "never heard of it".

Last year I emailed, as requested by members of this site and received an auto reply about how wonderful it is to have me as a customer and they get many requests for programming and take my request seriously.

OK. I'll try it again.

I replied asking for clarification. The response above seems to indicate that the Mtn. will be carried in SD on a one-time basis during football season, but I may not get it. huh?

Negotiations have been progressing, and we hope to secure an agreement that offers the best and fairest terms for our customers. We want to insure that we keep our core pricing as low as possible, and that's a primary focus of the ongoing negotiations. We are working hard to find a mutually acceptable price point that will allow us to continue offering our customers a great value and add the Mountain Sports Network for those who want it.

Is the TV schedule out for VS, CBS College and the MTN? I get the first two on cable but not the later. Thinking about going to direct tv but need to get the sports pack for MTN and CBS college. I am trying to figure out how may of our games are going to be on VS and CBS vs the MTN. Any help is appreciated.

As I said on a previous post, I received a slightly different reply from Time Warner. Here is the reply I received (short version) :

"I understand you would like to get the Mountain West Sports channel. We do offer this channel. It is included in a special plan named: ESPN GamePlan (etc)."

I realize this is pay per view so I called TW for more info. I was told they would have a PPV channel setup for MWC games. Since I already pay for the game plan each year, this would be great. Did anyone else receive this kind of reply? Confusing to me.

There is no way that the MTN is a part of ESPN gameplan.

I think we should focus on Uverse instead of TW. TW and DISH will never do it since they dont care about there customers.

When I called last year the custumer service rep told me that they carry Big-10 and I should watch that. I chewed her out.

sent them an email- and looks like others are also, what additional pressure is the conference doing to TW, ATT,...and through out the state of CA. , or any other areas we may recruit, so games are on TV to show the recruits friends and families

Did you guys even compare prices between Direct TV and the cable service you have? I don't understand why you beg and plead with those clowns. You're consumers, dump them. I get everything I had on Comcast including HD, and for a few bucks less.

I wonder if the Sept-Dec part was meant to describe the MTN in HD?

Its (insert adjective here) that you can get so many different responses to the same question from these people.

Im on Cox, do we know if we will get the MTN in HD this fall?

Im thinking all of the games will be televised on channel 4. So TW and cox customer will have HD.
