The college football juices just started percolating this morning (Funny how that works year in/year out) -- and for whatever reason, I got curious about UCLA's schedule. What I found, for the Bruins, is DEEP trouble. They may possibly be more talented and more experienced this year -- but they also aren't that far from the possibility of finishing this season 1-11. It's about as brutal a schedule as I can recall seeing. The only respite is an early October meeting at home with Wazzu. Otherwise, every game is at best a 50/50 proposition, and at worst (at Texas, e.g.) pretty much an automatic waxing. I think they'll probably eek out 2-3 victories total, but don't be surprised if they are showing nothing but 1's in the W and L columns at the end of the year. Take a look... espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/26/ucla-bruins

ASU is headed south big time so the Bruins will beat them too. But otherwise, you're correct. I'd say there's no way they'll have a winning season with that schedule (the AD who set it up should be shot), following which I guarantee some who hate Neuheisel will say on this board that he would have ruined SDSU had we hired him. (I'll call BS.)

Hate to say it but look at how fast Michigan is spiraling out of control. Hoke is the one to turn things around and you know they will come knocking soon for his services...

That job is Jim Harbaugh's to take or turn down. I think Rich Rod needs to win 9 games to keep it. Hate to say it but look at how fast Michigan is spiraling out of control. Hoke is the one to turn things around and you know they will come knocking soon for his services...

Hoke is the one to turn things around and you know they will come knocking soon for his services... Michigan hates Harbaugh. He talked a lot of trash about his former school when he took the Stanford job. Here is the quote: “College football needs Stanford. We’re looking not for student athletes but scholar-athletes. No other school can carry this banner. The Ivy League schools don’t have enough weight [because of their low athletic level]. Other schools which have good academic reputations have ways to get borderline athletes in and keep them in.” “Michigan is a good school and I got a good education there,” he said, “but the athletic department has ways to get borderline guys in and, when they’re in, they steer them to courses in sports communications. They’re adulated when they’re playing, but when they get out, the people who adulated them won’t hire them.” Harbaugh has "foot in mouth" disease.

Word around ESPN is they'll STILL offer him the job. Watch. That job is Jim Harbaugh's to take or turn down. I think Rich Rod needs to win 9 games to keep it. Michigan hates Harbaugh. That would shock me. Doesn't matter what the UofM administration thinks... Harbaugh REALLY pissed off the VERY high-powered UofM Boosters with those (& other) comments about the school, and football program. Granted, those boosters will get more and more desperate with every passing 6-6 season, but I'd wager a decent sum that Harbaugh won't be their guy. If Hoke can get SDSU to 6-6 or better this season, and 8-4 or so next season... we might have to get out the checkbook to keep him. Word around ESPN is they'll STILL offer him the job. Watch. I have no idea how a thread about UCLA evolved into a debate about Jim Harbaugh, but here goes. While in the Bay Area on business today I caught a segment of Gary Radnich's always good show on KNBR 680, THE Sports Leader. Radnich interviewed a writer for the Detroit Free Press who speculated that if Rich Rod doesn't win at least seven games this year, he will be gone. The writer speculated that could be known by the end of the second game of the season. The Wolverines open by hosting UConn and then play at South Bend. If they win both, as they could, they figure ti get to seven and Rich Rod will keep his job. However, if they lose both, which is equally possible, there's no way they will win seven of their final 10 and with the rumors of West Virginia being put on NCAA probation as a result of Rich Rod's shenanigans, he will be a goner. As to who will replace him, regardless of how much Harbaugh is hated by some, Michigan alumni generally are tired of losing and many love the guy so the administration could easily bite the bullet and hire him. The Free Press guy put the odds of Harbaugh coaching Michigan a year from now as being 50-50.

Let's not forget Les Miles down at LSU. Wasn't he rumored to be leaving for Ann Arbor before RR was hired?

Let's not forget Les Miles down at LSU. Wasn't he rumored to be leaving for Ann Arbor before RR was hired? I've been listening to Bill King of Rivals Radio on and off for several years now. King is very diplomatic about any criticism he makes and he really doesn't make that much of it. King attended this year's SEC media days, during which he interviewed every head coach in the conference and the interviews were broadcast by King's substitute in the studio. When King returned the next week, he began his show by summarizing the highs and lows of the media days. Among the lows was his summation of the interview with Miles. King was again diplomatic but said that for reasons he wouldn't divulge, although Miles' 2011 class will be one of the best in the country, he's convinced that those recruits will far outlast Miles at LSU.

I'm not sure exactly how it went down. Wasn't that going on when Petrino supposedly accepted the Auburn job while it was still Tubervilles. With all the outrage created by that fiasco, I can't remember what happened exactly between Miles and Michigan. I don't know if he's burned any bridges there or not, but I think his resume would make him one that Michigan would look at if he does have Big Blue ties and if RRod continues to flounder..

Agreed, Miles' seat at LSU is just as warm as Rod's at Michigan.

So did Hoke schedule MI to beat them and interview. I hope not. With Hillman he will have a running game like MI wants. I hope Sipe is ready.
