Don't be surprised if the Padres end up with Ted Lilly from the Cubs. Based on recent reports sounds like the Dodgers are working a trade for Lilly in a deal that might include Ryan Theriot.

In terms of 3rd base at the upper levels, it's pretty bare, save for Darnell right now. Third base is loaded, but it's just at the lower levels.

Just last year with Houston Tejada hit .313 overall and .326 V.LHP. Going from a last place team, back to the NL where he played the last two years, and onto a playoff team will be just what he needs. He changes leagues so his BA going back to .000s means a symbolic new start to the year. He won't play full time and that should help too. Headley will be helped by getting more rest. He has played every game. He should rest against lefties and he will be a great option off the bench when a righty reliever comes in and as a defensive replacement. Tejada will be our #1 pinch hitter against lefties when not starting.
He should replace an outfielder. Most likely Cunningham. When Eckstien comes back he might replace Salazar or Stairs.
Don't be surprised if the Padres end up with Ted Lilly from the Cubs. Called it. Cunningham back to "AAA".

Tejada playng SS and batting 4th.
Not what I would have done. Headley hits right handed pitching very well and doesn't hit into double plays much. That is important because AGon is on first a lot with walks and singles.

They are told who to fear. Headley is hitting over .300 v.RHP and is hitting .298 .372 .488 .860 in July. Tejada is hitting .224 .290 .296 .586 in July and has hit lefties better in his career.

I don't like Tejada hitting second. I would rather have him 5th with Headley 2nd.

I don't like Tejada hitting second. I would rather have him 5th with Headley 2nd. In 61 at bats, with the Padres, Tejada has 5 walks. In 401 at bats with Baltimore he only had 15 walks. Maybe playing for a team in a pennant race gets Tejada thinking more about getting on base. Tejada hasn't been in a pennant race for a while. 2008 Tejada's Houston team had an OK record but still finished 11 games out.
