Also a standout pitcher, Garrett wants to play basketball and baseball in college. He is presently listing offers from St. John's, Oregon, UTEP, San Jose State, San Diego State, Arizona and Arizona State. He is also hearing from Georgetown and UNLV.

Gee...one guy comes to my mind...... I bet we've never had a guy make the hall of fame in one sport and lead another sport in assists

Did you forget Gwyn played Basket ball and holds the assist record I believe. He was also drafted by pro basket ball and Pro Baseball. So he would go along with 2 sports I believe.
Question if we can only have 13 basketball scholarships, I bet we could not suit up 14 basketball players.

Carl Weathers played football, and turned out to be a pretty good boxer as well. (In the movies).

I guess I should have been more specific ... have we had an athlete in the last 2-3 decades who played 2 sports and isn't able to get a senior discount on their early bird special at denny's?
I guess Tony Clark counts because he's under 40 (barely) ... but it was almost 20 years ago since he played for SDSU and the other question still stands ... would Gwyn, Fisher of Hoke allow an athlete to play 2 sports? Have we had one in recent years?

Mike Dodd - Aztec Volleyball and Basketball. Drafted by the Clippers, played Pro Beach volleyball instead and in addition to winning the Manhattan Beach Open 6 times (Beach Volleyball's Wimbeldon) he was also an Olympic Silver Medalist. goaztecs.cstv.com/genrel/dodd_mike00.html

SDSU is perfect for this kid. He's originally from Las Vegas and Fisher has had a couple of guys from there, Billy White and LoWade. He's near LA and he's certainly heard of Kawhi Leonard. He's a 6'5" lefty, we've had a successful one of those recently. He wants to play two sports, Tony Gwynn played, and excelled in, both of those sports. I believe Fisher allowed an offensive tackle play in the post for him when he first came to SDSU...maybe it was the previous coach. He played ball with Bryce Harper who played at Petco and enjoyed San Diego. Too many things line up. I can't see this kid going to the East coast. Of the schools that have offered him, the AZ schools and Oregon have good baseball and basketball programs. UCLA has not offered yet, according to Scout. Gwynn and Fisher need to team up to get this kid. Too bad they both can't give him half a scholarship.

That's what I don't get about these websites. Rivals lists us in the article but on the player's profile on schools he is considering, we are nowhere to be found. C'mon man!

You're right. I mentioned UCLA since it's a west coast school, near where he lives, that has solid baseball and basketball programs. I'm saying I like our chances with a kid like this.
