The Padres and Dodgers play 7 games out of the next 10. That is close to the Dogers last chance against the Padres. Games left within the division on August 6th: Team | Ari | Col | LA | SF | SD | Ari | X | 9 | 6 | 9 | 9 | Col | 9 | X | 12 | 6 | 6 | LA | 6 | 12 | X | 7 | 6 | SF | 9 | 6 | 7 | X | 10 | SD | 9 | 6 | 6 | 10 | X |
LA and Colorado play 12 times. Giants and Padres play 10 times. Every team plays Arizona 9 times except the Dodgers who play them 6 times.

The dodgers have the best record in baseball against their division, and have been just miserable outside of it, particularly back east. Perhaps it is coincidence and they are just so up and down that it has fell that way, but, regardless, this IS the Dodgers' real last chance, not just against the Padres but with all the division games they need to make a run and make it quick and somehow beat someone beside the West.

I'm just happy that the Pads won't end up in the cellar as all the scribes were predicting.
At least it doesn't look likely at this point.
If they win the division, or otherwise get in the playoffs, it's gravy....
