I have been to a handful of summer events in and around the mesa that involve area High schools or local HS athletes, Male athletes..I also have been to many Hs football, basketball and baseball games around the county throughout the years . I must say,
this whole "San Diego is loaded "with local studs in all sports is a complete myth. and because of the coaching carousels in different sports around the county,and the absolute confusion that is everything CIF , HS sports in this town is actually getting worse!
So I say to you all who coach on the mesa, don't waste your time on the few gems that will pop up from time to time in this city, who dream of being on ABC or ESPN weekly and are getting recruited by schools whose cities shut down and or stop on fall Saturdays.
No don't waste your time on those precious few> Instead go north on I5 and get you some hungry kids who are tough minded and will win you some games. This towns sport scene is fading..

They already do, what is your point? General point, don't rely on San Diego as your recruiting base. Don't fall for the fanaticism of local media and members on this post who get excited about the flavor of the day locally |

Attention all southbaysuckers: Go South, or North, or anywhere else - just GO AWAY!! I would rather stick around and look at the Mesa's and areas sport scene without rose colored glasses on. Seems like I definitely rub people the wrong way just by offering an opinion about SDSU athletics rather than cheer leading. There are serious issues confronting SDSU's Athletics. This post is a plea not to leaders of each program not to be caught up in the local backlash of fans , Media and area coaches who B***h and complain about SDSU not recruiting their "stars" .. these are desperate times and no head coach should be caught up in PR battle Sorry I wont go away, but maybe SDSU's athletic programs will someday soon if they don't prove worthy.. |

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, let's look at men's bball since it only has 13 players:
(4) Thomas, DJ, Rahon are L.Franklin are from San Diego
(3) Billy, Carlwell and Medhi are out of state or out of the country
(3) Leonard, J. Franklin and Williams are from the greater la area
(3) Shelton, Tapley, Thames are from sacramento/fresno
Looks like a perfectly acceptable spread of players from the 3 population centers in california and getting 3 players from out of state.
Football is filling up 35-50 percent of its class with players going up the 15 to 210: riverside, eastern san gabriel valley, san bernadino, south OC, etc.
Dude, if you're going to troll, and then return, at least have some semblance of information and a point
