... really deserves a huge amount of props for making the adjustments and playing lights-out in the 2nd half.
They created turnover after turnover and gave the offense ample opportnity to get back into it.
That game had the potential to turn into a train wreck after the first quarter. It instead became merely a derailment, thanks to a D that showed a lot of heart.
I have no answers for what happened on offense, but I have confidence that what we do have on that side of the ball is enough to have us in the hunt for a "W" in every single game on the slate the rest of the way. They just have to show up in force.
The posts I've read since yesterday are all very good in summing up the post-mortem. But keep in mind that we have a 3-1 football team and a very important MWC matchup coming up at home against the Rose Bowl champions. Compare that to where we were less that 1,000 days ago, and I'm still very bullish on this program and this particular team.
See you at The Q in 2 weeks when the sting has worn off.
We'll be fine.

rocky ran 2 all out blitzes the first 9 minutes and they gashed them when they stood up the blitz. Defenses is getting the ball out. They still aren't there yet, but they played well enough for us to win.

Rocky admitted he attacked too much in the first half, called the dogs off a little in the second half and made progress.
Oldie Out

Good assessment, Sleepy - a good positive perspective.

Couldn't have said it more precise! You are right, and we will show up vs. TCU. I Believe!

Despite some of the very good plays and/or series, this team is giving up 23 points a game so far and that needs to improve.

I would accept 23 points against TCU. The question is, will RL and RH's heads be in the game? Talent is there, we need their heads. Their defense backs are rookies and Ryan has a chance to eat them up. If Hillman does 191 yards and 4 td's we win going away.

I wonder why Rocky went with the blitzes early. Michigan's offense was exactly as advertised, QB options and nothing else. It's not like they were doing anything creative. Oh well, defense did play much better later.

Their offense it's light years ahead of Michigan's. I'll guess our offense needs to score forty to win that game.

The Oracle loves how you are always positive, sleepy. It's nice to have someone that expects to win, unlike Erik.

I agree. UM had only one good drive all second half otherwise the D took care of business.

New Qb is going to be a monster. Their defense is not back though. If the good Ryan shows up we have a shot. Their secondary reminded me of a sieve!

Based on what we've seen so far, I do think Boise could put up a ton of points on us, however. Other than that, the 23 ppg figures to go down since we still remaining on the schedule are UNM, UNLV and CSU (averaging just 16 ppg in regulation versus BCS opponents).

Other than needing some bigger dlinemen I really think we have the players on defense to make things happen in the rest of the games. Rocky pretty much admitted himself that he called the wrong schemes that allowed Robinson's runs in the 1st half. The 3-3-5 is a gambling defense, but overall he's made more correct calls in every game so far.
It's the other side of the ball that has to pick it up.
