Every conference has bad teams, Rocky mentioned that in his press conference. Our immediate goal is to win the MWC. No need to look back on who's in the cellar and we shouldn't talk $#!+ since we were cellar dwellers for many years (karma talking). If you recall how bad things were, I'm sure you can still feel the sting (I do). And losing to Michigan brought some of us back to earth and keep our noses to what we have. The work isn't done, we still have a long way to go before we're as good as we want to be. Oldie Out +1

damn, what a clusterf*** in Albuquerque They renegotiated Locksley's contract after last season so the buyout is only $450K, or about $1M less than SDSU owed Chuckles. UNM plays arch rival NMSU on Saturday and then has a bye. If Locksley loses that one, he's sure to be fired on Sunday. They didn't bother waiting. Fired today.

Thanks for the info, gents. Considering what an uber recruiter Locksley was to Illinois, I thought he was a great hire for UNM. Shows what I know. Instead he's got to be considered one of the worst hires ever.

Indiana and Minnesota are horrible, and Northwestern lost at Army. Does that mean the Big "10" stinks? very good point - almost all conferences have a mix of a few good teams, a few ok and a few stinkers...MWC is no diff and given the huge altitude advantage, at home MWC's ok teams like Wyo can beat a lot of ok teams from BCS conferences. Col St v Ore State? Aztecs v WSU? oh, that's right, settled that one.

Hoke, (AKA "Fatboy"), was never the culprit here. That POS was his predecessor at Michigan who f*cked over his previous employer. The MWC is a mid-level conference. Has been from day one and will continue to be a mid-level conference. It will have its moments of glory but it will never be on the level of an SEC. The TCU game will go a long way in determining what the rest of the season holds for the Aztecs. From the beginning I was anticipating eight regular season wins. Anything less will be EXTREMELY disappointing.

It's interesting that we're all saying that we need to get better, and other conference members need to get better, so we can be an AQ conference, so that we get the BCS and TV contract $, so that we can get better.
We don't have the money to invest in the best assistant coaches, to improve facilities, to pay for tutors so that our athletes stay eligible, to run expensive ad campaigns to keep our brand relevant.
What is OSU's or Wazzu's or Indiana's or Northwestern's excuse. They get the $, and they're still bad.

Nobody is saying that the MWC is on par with the SEC, no other conference is. What we are saying is that the MWC is on par with the Big East, a BCS conference. You shouldn't have to be the best conference to get AQ status, just better than the worst of the AQ conferences. And right now the Big East is a "mid-level conference" and the worst of the AQ conferences.
