Way to go Faux News. If it attacks the liberals, run with the story. It doesn't have to be true. It's not like you have any credibility to protect anyway.

I don't think Beck is a journalist. I think he has a commentary show like Olbermann. There's a difference. They are blowtoads. You aren't going to manuever me into defending him, I don't watch him anyway. However, when you have supposed serious journalists like these suggesting stuff like this, it's over the top: pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/103335/

It is not clear to me what Yoda is talking about. Are we having trouble seeing the difference between comment and reporting news?

It is not clear to me what Yoda is talking about. Are we having trouble seeing the difference between comment and reporting news? No, but Faux intentionally blurs the distinction between the two. So on the one hand, they claim that News is separate from Opinion. But on the other hand, the News side constantly sites accusations made by the Opinion side as as their sole source for reporting stories that wouldn't be stories if they didn't have the Opinion side as a sole source. That's why a lot of their faux news isn't often reported by the main stream news channels -- those channels don't consider Glen Beck's opinion to be a source. Stewart nailed that pretty well too -- starting at 3:17 of this Daily Show piece... www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-october-29-2009/for-fox-sake-Yoda out...

No, but Faux intentionally blurs the distinction between the two and, aside from you two, I can't think of any Faux News watchers who I know personally who would be able to draw the distinction. Maybe I just know some unusually naive Faux New watchers. As for blurring the distinction, Stewart nailed that pretty well too. Starting at 3:17 of this Daily Show piece... www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-october-29-2009/for-fox-sake-Yoda out... I don't know who you are referring to as "you two", but I can assure you I do not watch ANY television so-called "news" programs. IT'S ALL bull$#!+. And until now, I have been thankfully ignorant of this braying jackass named "Stewart"(?) that you seem so inamored with.

History channel, Discovery, National Geographic and the like is about it, except during football season. I have the NFL package, and of course, I'll be watching any channel that is showing Aztec sports.

It is not clear to me what Yoda is talking about. Are we having trouble seeing the difference between comment and reporting news? Win the "comment" is becoming poisonous. You know millions of people in the US believe the "comment" at this point. Stuff like this makes me ill and makes me long for a time gone by in the US. Oh, since I am home recovering from minor surgery (my excuse) I did check out Glenn Beck today on TV. That guy is certifiably insane.... scary nuts.

Isn't it wonderful?! Throw in some Marxist class consciousness (that is to say "hatred") with racial prejudice and you are cured!

Second, do you think Beck is as nuts as Olbermann?

Bill O'Reily ran with the video and asked her to come on his show to talk about it. She refused and was called a racist by the NAACP and fired by the White House before anything was checked by them. That right there shows that Fox News has "credibility" within those two groups.
The part I find interesting is when she said the part that sounded quite racist the NAACP audience cheered wildly but when she put in context they sat quietly in remorse that a white guy didn't get screwed. Then that organization has the nerve to say her speech was racist.

It was pointed out today that Fox never mentioned the issue until after the White House made Vilsak fire Sherrod. One question that must be answered before I can make much more of this whole deal is: Who sent Breitbart the altered tape in the first place and why? I can see why he posted it, but wish he knew where it came from.

There is so much bull$#!+ involved with this story..it makes me want to vomit. sound bites......ratings......zing the other guy......SPIN!! The only hero here is Shirley Sherrod. Listen to her speak and hear a real American with a compelling story who is telling telling the truth. Her father was murdered in 1965 by white racists and she has found a way to fight through her past and be what she is today........which is a very admirable person. She is doing what these assholes on TV can't do anymore. They are too concerned with fu**ing the opposition and making more money.

I don't see any heroes here. I want to see why she won't take another job and why Obama and friends are really keeping her at arms length. Is there more to the story? Is she going to be litigious and fund her retirement with a lawsuit? She might be the real deal like UW says, but I will wait to see what else develops.

Sherrod got a raw deal, to be sure. She deserved better.
There are some things to keep in mind, however.
First, Sherrod made unfortunate remarks accusing Fox News of wanting to, in essence, re-institute the racist Jim Crow America of years past. She should have just quite while she was ahead.
Second, it turns out that the tape Breitbard posted included a portion in which Sherrod explains how the incident of 24 years earlier had helped her to become more racially tolerant. Anybody with a brain would not have gone ballistic over the thing had they been playing attention.
Third, don't you suppose the NCAA had the full tape, since the speech from March was at an NCAA function? Why didn't they (as well as the White House) review that tape more carefully? Or did they not bother to review it at all?
Fourth, and most important of all, it is clear that the Left (and here I mean the Democrats in particular) are keen on smearing anyone critical of Obama with the accusation of racism. This is really stupid, in my view, since most people are going to understand that it is just dirty politics.
And I will add a Fifth point: The Fox News regular reporters do a pretty good and fair job of presenting the news. Now, when you talk of Beck and Hannity, you are taking of very openly opinionated commentators. Neither one claims to be objective. One might also ask why FNC is so successful if their lack of professional excellence and integrity are so obvious? I guess Americans, when they do not follow the lead of the elite intellectual class, are just too easily duped by all those good looking blonds!
