Worth looking at sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5396455BERKELEY, Calif. -- California is losing one of its top recruits for the upcoming season after linebacker Chris Martin decided to transfer. Coach Jeff Tedford announced Martin's decision Tuesday. Martin was ranked the top outside linebacker by Scout.com, recording 11 sacks and forcing five fumbles last season. Martin is an Oakland native who finished his high school career in Aurora, Colo. He says he decided to transfer because there are too many distractions for him in the Bay Area. Tedford says he supports Martin's decision. San Diego is a good distance away from Choakland!!!!

He should make an immediate impact if he should decide to join our program. 4 star player, Top150 recruit, great size.

I know it's a cliche, but if he doesn't learn how to say NO he'll always find distractions no matter where he goes.

Chris Martin has a very interesting story. He is from the bay area. He pledged to Note Dame almost on signing day last year. He talked about moving to a prep school in CT and I believe he finally moved to Colorado for his senior season to avoid "distractions." He then shocked ND and changed to Cal. Now this? Seems odd and hopefully he is doing the right thing. There is obviously something or someone in the Bay area he doesn't want to be around. I hope the best for him.

Rivals 6.1He can transfer anywhere. Rivals seems to think he will be a defensive end. Make him our Aztec Back. His size, weight, and speed is similar to Brian Urlacher. Use that lure to get him. Long Shot a Rocky Long Shot.

Anybody know how many 5-star recruits the entire Pac-10 had in 2010?
No? I'll give you a hint. My former boss who lost a finger to a machine shop accident while in high school could count them on both hands.
Ergo, this kid isn't going to transfer to any MWC school, much less SDSU.

If he transfers within the PAC he has to sit out two years...

But being the next Urlacher might be the thing.

I've been a Gator fan since 1988 when I spent a few days partying in Gainseville and met Emmit Smith and his teammate Ephesians Bartley at a bar called "Gator Bumpers". Gainseville is a really great college town. I'm also a huge Michigan fan - frankly, probably a bigger Michigan fan than a Florida fan, but the Maze and Blue hasn't had much to cheer about in a long time.
