The Rockies are 16-2 in games Ubaldo Jimenez has started. They are 34-39 in games he didn't start. Ubaldo Jimenez has not been so godly in recent games. After not giving up more than 2 runs in any game he has given up more than 2 runs in 5 of his last 7 games, including 6 runs in 5.1 innings today.
On June 5 his ERA was 0.78. Today it is 2.38. In his last 6 games he has an ERA of 5.60

He will continue to regress, as I predicted in the latter portions of the first half. The Rockies can win without him, but their offense will need to be solid on the road, not just at home. They will need to play above .500 ball on the road to have a chance to win the division.

On the Road Team Runs Games R/G Padres..173...42....4.12 Rockies.172...45....3.82 3 more games 1 less run.

Which is exactly why I don't think they'll win the division.

The division is going to come down to the Padres and Giants. Definitely. Rafael Furcal hit .190 for the Dodgers last week, and was their top hitter, lol....they're not going to push, and neither will COL.

But we still have 6 games left to play against both Colorado and LA. Plus 10 more against the giants. The Rockies and Dodgers may not when the division but they sure as hell will have an big impact on who does. Meaningful baseball in August and September sure does feel good though.

The Padres still have that 2 game lead over the Giants but their lead on making the playoffs went from 5.0 games to 2.5 games after the last 7 games. That is because the Giants wild card lead went from 3.0 games to 0.5 games. The Rockies and the Dodgers both are still in the race but need to start winning. Both have a recent history of coming from further behind. Dodgers in 2006 and the Rockies in 2007.

Our lead went from making the playoffs went from 5 games to 2.5 games because we've been losing and the Phillies have been winning. You have a way of manipulating how everything sounds don't you Bill? The giants winning or losing doesn't have anything to do with those odds so long as they stay between us and the Phils.

I wasn't trying to pull the wool over your eyes. The wild card race is closing up and that isn't good for the Padres. It isn't just the Phillies but the Cards and Reds too.
