Since Football has not won a bowl game in more than 40 years and Basketball has NEVER won a NCAA tournament game.
I am excited that we may see groundbreaking history being made this year.
Go Aztecs!

Yes, I agree Basketball is better right now, BUT football only has to win 6 games and then beat a similar 6 or 7 win team in a bowl game. So it could be said that FOOTBALL while not as "loaded" with playmakers as basketball is, has an easier task in post season than winning a NCAA Tournamnet game.
I'm just saying.

I've got another question to add to the thread...
When was the last time our fan base even had a chance to consider the question?

I like this poll. Great job.
Similar in nature to the one I posted last week with which would you rather have happen this season - Football Bowl Game Win or Basketball Sweet 16 appearance.
I voted for Basketball team getting the NCAA tournament win this season. I expect that from them this year, while football is making progress, we would be pretty happy with a bowl birth at this point. A bowl win is certainly possible, but I would put money on the NCAA tournament win.

Basketball for sure.
We are so loaded that losing Shelley is not even making anyone blink. That is the sign of a very good team.

I find it weird that Nobody thinks Football has a better chance.
I mean with 6 regular season wins and a victory at home against a 6-6 Navy team, the SDSU Football squad could do it.
It's that easy!

As for basketball winning a NCAA game? Never.

Losing Shelley was an upgrade. Just my opinion LTB... You couldn't be more wrong. He didn't transfer because he was going to come back healthy and regain his starting role and dominate. He transferred because Tapley and Franklin were already better and younger and he wasn't going to get minutes. If Shelley or Fisher thought he was going to be a major contributor ... he'd still be on the team.

And on Franklin, are you talking about LaBradford or Jamaal? As for why Fisher didn't beg him to stay? Obvious, we are loaded and if a kid wants to go, you let him go. If you only have three or four good players, you beg the kid to stay.

He is referring to Jamaal Franklin... who, athletically appears to be ahead of Shelley,or anyone else on the team for that matter. Also, in high school, was every bit the scorer that Shelley was (comparing their senior season). I have no idea what kind of jumper Jamaal has, but it would be hard to be any worse than Shelley's. I watched Tyrone a bunch of times in high school and he never really had a great jump shot. He was just a vicious scorer.
I dont know that we upgraded by losing Shelley, but we are definitely not going to suffer from his departure. Personally, I was a little shocked/bummed out to see him go.

I'm talking about the Franklin that will play Shelley's position but has a better handle, is a better shooter and a better athlete .. Jamaal. If Fisher had said to Shelley "you will be our starting guard again this year, we need you, don't leave" ... he would still be on the team.
