I voted yes.....but would like to add some comments as to some guidelines.
First off, I think all 3 of these guys are either 17 or 18. That doesn't excuse what they did and for sure it was a criminal act.....But they are young.
I would interview all 3 of them one on one. I would judge each player on their own. Not as a group.
I would try to get a feel for which ones (or all 3) felt remorseful and understand what the problem was.
All three were in on it, but more than likely there was one instigator in the group.
I would them bring in the ones I felt comfortable with. If it was none, so be it. If it is 3, I do it.

I agree with Steve. I believe Coach Hoke is a good judge of character and would trust his judgement.

I didn't vote because the issue is moot. If Hoke wouldn't take Ryan Bass, who had a brother who played at SDSU and was never a problem so far as anybody knew and who merely argued with the staff of the Pac-10 school he first signed with, Hoke isn't going to take any of these guys.

The attitude and locker room needs to be turned around. We need high character guys that expect and demand winning. This wasn't a couple of friends have a few beers, getting caught for underage drinking. No, I think I'd pass on these guys.

Hoke doesn't touch these guys. Luginbill other hand... Lugie brought in talent. And LOCAL talent. I miss Al. I remember as a young kid how excited my Stepdad was when Darnay signed out of Kearny....oh boy..... His obvious downside was the defensive side of the ball, but in todays bowl format, Lugie would have gone bowling every season. I wish he had hung around longer. Sorry to hijack this thread, I just have very fond memories of those days at the Murph when I was a grade schooler (born in 1982).

Looking back in awe of Darnay's era:
Scott played college football at San Diego State University. As a freshman at SDSU in 1991 he broke the single game Freshman receiving yardage record with 243 yards receiving against BYU (11/16/91). He would end up having one of the best Freshman seasons in SDSU history as he finished with 35 catches for 727 yards and 6 TD's.
In 1992 he would set the Sophomore receiving record against UTEP with 274 yards (10/17/92) and would add another spectacular performance against Fresno St with 217 yards (11/21/92). Other notable performances included 100 yard games against: New Mexico (100 yards; 10/3/92), BYU (105 - 9/10/92), and Hawaii (132 - 11/14/92). For the season Scott would record 68 catches for 1,150 yards and 9 TD's, leading all SDSU WR's.
His success would continue in 1993 as a Junior with performances of 139 (Minnesota - 9/25/93), 122 (New Mexico - 10/23/93), 148 (UCLA - 9/30/93) and 160 (Cal - 9/11/93) yards. Against Air Force he would have his fourth career 200 yard game finishing with 11 catches for 217 yards and 2 TD's. Once again he would lead SDSU in receiving as he finished the season with 75 catches 1,262 yards 10 TD's while recording six games of 100 or more yards receiving. In his stellar 3 year career he would catch 178 passes for 3,139 yards and 25 TD's. His twelve 100 yard and four 200 yard performances place him 2nd in SDSU history. He is only one of two SDSU WR's to record multiple 1,000 yard receiving seasons.[1]

What I remember most about Darnay was if a ball was up for grabs he ALWAYS got it.

What I remember most about Darnay was if a ball was up for grabs he ALWAYS got it. Seemed that way, didn't it jd. Another thing I remember is that Darnay could take hit over the middle and keep on going for extra yards. I loved his game.

You didn't hijack my comments. I remember Darnay Scott really well. And I wasn't casting dispersions at Al Luginbill. It was a different era.
We have fond memories of people like Darnay Scott. What we don't remember is how we got most of these guys. Why did a great high school receiver like Scott "end up" at SDSU? Because Lugie could get him in. Lugie would have recruited and got the UCLA three admitted.
Not now. 2010 is a different deal.

Sure. Bring in three guys that are interested in themselves and what they can take from others. What the hell, they aren't good enough for UCLA so they will be just fine at SDSU. Spare me. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

If the guys are troublemakers then I'd want them nowhere near the program.
IF a couple of them just got caught up in something and they're otherwise good kids then I might be willing to give them a second chance - but I'd look into their records really closely to see if they've been in ANY trouble previously. Any previous trouble at all would then disqualify them as far as I'm concerned. Even just reports that they were bullies at school or anything like that - any bad character history and with this event it would be too much for me to risk it.
We did have an incident with a basketball player and that TV, but when you're offering a scholarship and there's already been a problem before that? That kid really has to be investigated very, very thoroughly before he is even considered.

They have been bringing in a lot of guys with rap sheets. UCLA football has always been a place for ,criminals, faked handicap stickers ,stolen stereos tv,car break ins, purse snatching, The Gutty Little felons. Billy Don Jackson the linebacker who was illiterate. NO thanks,

They are very talented players, especially Josh Shirley who says he was not really part of the theft. I would give each of them a chance depending on the circumstances and how the court case goes. Also they would have to show the willingness to prove themselves prior to being full members of the team.

I know they offered the Shirley kid last year, i watched the army all star football game last year and he played great so i sure Hoke and company already have an idea on what kind of kid he is. I think it be great to get one of them, if they all came together i'm sure it would be harder for them to stay out of trouble
