They were in Mission Beach and saw me with Aztec gear on. We stopped and talked for a minute about the upcoming season. Since I was walking back to my place after enjoying some refreshments , I didn't really get into a long converstation with them and remember all of their names. I have to say this...What great kids, polite kids, respectful kids. We shook hands, they all had smiles, and we talked Aztecs for a couple of minutes. -They are very excited about the season. -They are sure they will be playing in a bowl. -They understand how important it is for us (the fans) for our team to win now. -They are very aware of how all of us are counting on them to turn this program around. Top notch kids for our program.

I ran into them too as I was riding bikes with my family from AZ. I had gear on of course so they yelled "Go Aztecs!" to me and I gave them one back. I was trying to keep my eye on all of the little ones with us so I couldn't stop and chat.
They definitly looked ready for the season.

That is great to hear and coincides with my contact and observations of three of our young players (recruited by Long and staff) who are very sharp, thoughtful and encouraged about the the start of fall practice and the 2010.
They have commented about how good they felt as a result of the reception they received at the Coryell tribute, how much they appreciated learning more about Coryell and the Aztec legacy and how demanding summer conditioning has been under Wellman.
I would be very happy if the quality of these young men is reflected in the quality of our play this season.
