Ive read threads of the 2 different boards about recruiting and have come up with a couple of observations...
1. that this staff does seem to hit more areas and see more high schools. This will lead to better relationships and more prospects to evaluate, leading to better talent.
2. this staff does a great job evaluating San Diego talent first. Hoke has said that he would make it an emphasis to get local talent and he has done that so far. Even if he doesnt take every player from SD, at very least they are getting looked at.
3. this drives me nuts... People lets think about it. There are 50 states and tens of thousands of prospects to try and see. Lets just say that each of the 9 coaches had 5 states to recruit. With NCAA restrictions on the amount of time and manner in which you can recruit, THERE ARE GOING TO BE SCHOOLS THAT THE COACHES JUST DONT GET TO SEE!! Lets not make it out to be something that it isnt..
4. Last thing about recruiting... perspective.. We see one you tube link and we think we can all evaluate talent and say who is great and who sucks.. Lets give these kids, these coaches some credit.
SDSU is on the way up, hands down. Starts with our football players getting bigger stronger faster and more physical...check Better recruiting to our needs and vision....check Better athletes.... check 2010 Bowl Bound Aztecs

It's true... These coaches seem to know what they're doing. I've never seen us have this many recruits at these time in the off-season. I think this year could be fun... But, we'll have to see how things shake out.

I like the coaches emphasis on evaluating San Diego talent first. We also seem to have great inroads/relationships with Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles counties. With that alone, and the occasional out of state player who sends in tape and who really wants to go to SDSU, we have all the talent we need. We are very fortunate to be in San Diego as it is set up perfectly to build a top tier program. I belive we are on our way.

Wow, that sounds great ..... top tier! I would be content (for now) with just .... a bowl game at the end of each year. TCU, Utah, BSU and perhaps BYU, are top tier. How exciting would it be to have that kind of success? Now THAT would be fun!

A lot of hoopla. We will know when we see them on the field. After just one recruiting class from Long, I knew he was a shithead from hell and would be fired. Linemen with motor problems and skilled players who would not have been recruited by a Junior College! Boy, I am glad Long is long gome. I am still waiting to see if Hoke is striving to excel.
