The Padres place Latos and Adams on the DL and recalled speedy Luis Durango and Portland closer Ernesto Frieri.
Ernesto Frieri was a starter in "AA" last year but the Padres moved him to the bullpen at "AAA" this year where he has pitched very well as their closer.
1.43 ERA 17 saves 37.2 innings 14 Hits 18 Walks 49 Strikeouts .114 BAA 0.32 GO/FO - overwhelming fly ball pitcher. That is good with Petco and our outfield defense.
Ernesto Frieri pitched two scoreless innings for the Padres last year and 2 scoreless innings in ST 2010. He was signed as a foreign free agent in 2005. He will turn 25 in a couple of days. This is a big chance for him. I expect him to see some important innings.
Latos will be ready July 24 in Pittsburgh. No Additional Padres starter will be necessary with the day off next Monday.
Adams will be ready July 27th when the Padres start a series at Petco Park against the Dodgers.

Should be good to give Latos a small rest, hopefully Adams didn't hurt himself too bad.

It comes at a time when the Padres can use off days to not require another pitcher during that time. It would be nice if they time it so he pitches against the Dodgers twice in our 7 games in a few weeks.

Holding back a laugh can be injurious.

Frieri looked great tonight. He has a future with the big club for years to come! Good to hear. I turned the channel after being up 10-1. Damn, I did want to see him pitch in his first game.
