I can't cofirm but I bet he's #8 in this video. If its him, I really like the pick up. He's a very aggressive runner and blocker with good balance and a nice set of wheels for a bigger back. The team he plays on looks stacked. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_y86Pz-2L0

1) Looks like he switched numbers from 12 as a sophomore to 8 as a junior. 2) Yeah, like AztecVic's signature line. BTW, for those in the North County, Gardena opens the 2010 season September 3 at Oceanside El Camino.

I didn't notice the switch of numbers. On the video which I tried futily to link, it highlighted only Petty as a sophomore, during which he was already a starter, albeit on a terrible team. Gardena then fired its long-time coach and replaced him with the former coach at Banning, which is a powerhouse. The video MD linked shows nobody wearing #12 but a player who looks very similar to Petty as a sophomore playing FB and wearing #8. I tried to find rosters for Gardena on the Internet but came up empty. My guess is that's somewhat related to Gardena being Gardena. Mrs. SGF attended school there for one year before her parents moved away from what is at best a lower middle class area economically and in many parts very poor. I therefore assume it's not the type of place where parents are inclined to purchase expensive equipment and put video up on the Net like one of the parents did with my son's Pop Warner team after every game. It's also strange to me that when you go to Gardena HS's website, there's no mention whatsoever of athletics. My guess on THAT is the school is doing it's best to emphasize academics and de-emphasize athletics at a school which has had its share of studs over the years, including former UCLA Heisman candidate Gaston Green.

I didn't notice Vic said anything. Must've been distracted. I'll try and go re-read it.

I didn't notice Vic said anything. Yes he did. A picture is worth 1,000 words.
