The weekly claims are at the DOL site. Under the stellar leadership of our Great President Unemployment Insurance claims have leveled off and we are seeing a new average of only about two million a month who are filing for UI. Isn't Obama wonderful? www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ui/eta20100962.htmHere is July Tenth: The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 513,347 in the week ending July 10, an increase of 44,855 from the previous week. Here is July Third: The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 463,560 in the week ending July 3, an increase of 22,560 from the previous week. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE ECONOMY IS HEALTHY AND THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. TWO MILLION A MONTH IS THE NEW REALITY.

Here are the weekly numbers from late June in 2007 and a comparison number from 2006. As you can see, our great leader has us close to the same numbers. What's a couple of hundred thousand? People lose their jobs every day.
The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 289,020 in the week ending June 23, a decrease of 1,863 from the previous week. There were 287,503 initial claims in the comparable week in 2006.
