Considering it didn't work out for him ... and he's still making 500 K a year working in europe, playing the sport he loves .. is fantastic.
But, ... he left a team that lost to Indiana in the 1st round of the ncaa's and would have done much better the following year. That team was loaded and tournament tested it would be hard to think it would not have won a few games in the dance his senior year. Jared Dudley (an undersized F) was drafted that year ... and it would be hard to think that Slaughter, who was taller and more skilled would not been gone before him.
Jared dudley is scheduled to make $2,151,068 in 2010.

Saw Abukar in the passenger seat of a Range Rover rockin out hard to Lil' Wayne when I was walking from the parking structure to Viejas for Coach Coryell's service. I knew I recognized the face and was trying to match it to current players but couldn't. Should have thought about the past. Couldn't see who the driver was but he was rockin hard--doing the drums wild as hell and everything. Long ass arms flying everywhere!! I was a little worried that one of our current boys would be driving a car that nice so now that I know who it was, I feel much more at ease. BTW, whoever's ride that was has got a nice system. The music was crisp throughout and most important of all: no rattling. If that was Marcus' ride then he is doing just fine with his income.

Sounds like slaughter - I remember walking over the bridge while walking home on one of the days and every week I'd see slaughter waiting to pick someone up in some brand new SUV, like an explorer or something with what had to be a couple 15s pumped up too loud.

Dudley can shoot... and can get by at the 3 position in the league. Slaughter proved he could not guard 3s nor could he face up, dribble, or shoot like a SF needs to succeed in the NBA. I do know that Dudley has really, really worked on his shooting though, there was a segment on espn or something at some point this season that documented it. He became a go to guy for the Suns from deep. To your point, Dudley was all over TV during his senior year and led BC to great success. Slaughter may have punched his ticket to the NBA had he stayed. Hard to say. Considering it didn't work out for him ... and he's still making 500 K a year working in europe, playing the sport he loves .. is fantastic. While I still agree that Slaughter should have stayed for his senior season, he may not have been drafted that year either. That was the year that all the high school seniors had to go to college for a year and therefore the draft was a lot deeper that it was the year before (when Slaughter left). Just something to keep in mind...

College might have been good forhim, but playing against grown men for a few years develops someone as well. He wasn't going to be an NBA player so he went for the money earlier, so be it.
