I had it on my DVR. In HD even.
I deleted it right after the loss.
Not worth watching.
Oldie Out

no thanks. Once was enough. I know the ending. Very true. Re-runs of an entire game is one of the most boring things to watch unless you're studying things. It's not entertaining. As for this game if we had a guard that attacked the basket it would have changed the game quite a bit, although I don't know if it would have affected the outcome. Do we have one this year?

That is according to what you are looking for. I watch reruns on games to dissect the players/coaches (as a fan that loves basketball). The first time around you are so into the game, you miss a lot. The second time around (because you know the final score), you can concentrate on individual players and situations. It is an entirely different game, with of course the same ending. But you aren't worried about the ending this time around. If you ever see a coach interviewed after a game he will often say....."I will know more about what happened after I watch the film". I am very anxious to see the replay to see if we are as close as I think we are to making that next step.

PLEASE NCAA....Give Brian Carlwell an extra year (don't think its happening).
Often we talk about basketball IQ......Brian Carlwell has it.

The combo of DJ Gay and Labradford this year is going to be awesome.
I am so impressed with what DJ is doing against a solid Tennessee team and the guys guarding him are bigger and stronger.
Nice job DJ.

Is there anything that Chase Tapley does not do well?
If so, I haven't seen it. Tapley is a complete player.

The fact that he stepped up his game with a broken hand tells you something about the man too. It is going to be difficult for anybody to get court time next year with DJ and Chase in backcourt.

On the topic of playing time next year. I might be in the minority on this, but after watching that game close last night (with a 24oz )....Here is what I think is our best starting lineup.....And I am sure many will disagree. PG---DJ Gay SG---Chase Tapley PF---Malcom Thomas SF---Kawhi Leonard C----Brian Carlwell 6th man----Billy White Now, I am as big of Billy White fan as there is. This is no dog on him. I think he would be fantastic off the bench and spelling Thomas and Leonard. Billy would still get his time. This lineup gives up great size. Watching last night, when Thomas and Carlwell were in the game together, it seemed to give Tennessee trouble in the match up. Would it work? Or would Billy be upset about not starting in his senior year? As one poster said earlier this year....How good this team is this season, will depend on how willing players are able to accept their roles.

I like the change-up brian gives us and I think there will be games that he gets tons of time, but I think we are most dynamic if we can get billy and thomas to play off each other better.

I dont think our starting lineup will change from last year. I only see our backcourt as having any possible room for tinkering. We have so many options at guard this year, Fish will probably play with it a little bit early on. I see Rahon challenging for a starting spot. The Franklins might have something to say as well.
To address Steve's thought - I wouldnt mind it, although I dont agree with it being our best lineup. Particularly because Billy White leads our press better than anyone on the team. He is probably our best defender, as far as steals, blocks, creating havoc, etc. He needs to be on the floor from the jump to help establish the tone of the game. Also, Carlwell is the ultimate team guy. He embraces everything about the team. He is fine coming off the bench and will play hard no matter what. Part of why is so valuable to our team. He is willing to do whatever it takes.

I don't think there is any way he will start at point.....And even less of a chance of him beating out Tapley at the 2. I do think Rahon is going to get valuable time and be a very important player on this team.

Yea I really dont think he will start either... but I do think he has the best chance of any of the three new guards to steal a starting spot. He has D1 experience and is a very good shooter. I know nothing about his defense. Tapley is the clear favorite, especially as a returning starter. But Rahon's scoring ability and size are something to consider. Needless to say, our backcourt has a ton of options this season... and probably for the first time since I have been following the team (14 years or so now).
Note - I see DJ Gay starting at PG the entire season, barring injury/illness

Valid points by all. It is good to watch replay of games, so you can determine why team lost! First of all, Aztecs jacked up too many outside shots in the 1st half. 2nd half, Aztecs went inside and played much better.
Secondly, nothing wrong with taking outside shots, but one has to know when to shoot'em and not shoot'em (i.e. like cards, know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em). Thirdly, Aztecs got beat at their on game, the boards! No way Aztecs should not have controlled the boards against Tenn.. Call it stage fright or NCAA jitters, but there is no excuse to get out rebounded when your team is one of the best rebounding teams in the Country!
Defensively, Aztecs cannot allow opponents to shoot uncontested jump shots! Shots by Hopson and Goins were critical shots that changed momentum of the game. Finally, I do not understand why a PG would pass the ball to your worst 3 point shooter with the game on the line. Further, I do not understand why the Coach would not have your best % FG/PT Shooter on the floor at a critical juncture of the game.
Despite the aforementioned, Aztecs still managed to play Tenn. down to the wire! Re-call, this is the only team in America that defeated the #1 and #2 D1 Teams in America last season. As far as next season is concerned, Fisher and Co cannot screw around with player combinations/starting line-ups and etc.. Next season's schedule may be one of the toughest in Aztecs history!
Should the Aztecs start off slow next season like they did last season, they may enter League play with 5 or more losses. This will not bode well for the team and their season. Five losses or more before League will cause irreparable psychological team damage!
Fisher has a starting five that won a MWC Championship, so why tinker, experiment or screw around with it? I agree that Aztecs bench should be better physically and athlectically. However, its one thing to get hyped up as a player that can do this, do that and bel a bag of chips, but its another thing when said player is put on the floor with and against other players that are just as talented.
Again, I maintain that the Aztecs will be successful if the players buy into what the Coaches are selling, defend, rebound, play as a team, sacrifice individual goals and have great chemistry. Great tem chemistry and playing as a team wins Championships!
