Will he admit to himself that he incorrectly believed that the United States of America was Santa Monica, California or Madison, Wisconsin writ large? Will he wake up to the fact that this country can better be characterized as Moscow, Idaho circa 2000 rather than Moscow, Russia circa 1918? Will he get wise to himself and figure out that the American people have a healthy and abiding skepticism about the government . . . any damned government under any damned political party! . . . rather than the boundless faith and enthusiasm that characterize his perspective? Will he realize that slow, incremental changes are better than the "let's tear up the whole thing and start over" nonsense that emerges from those corners of America that wish they were corners of European countries before those said countries started to pull back from the collectivist abyss? Frankly, I doubt it. Intelligence and rhetorical flourishes do not trump blind idealogical zealotry, and ideology and zealotry appear to hold Obama in a vice-like grip. www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/81032AzWm

I think that Obama has chosen to go ahead and go up in flames rather than moderate his positions and goals. Why else would he surround himself with that collection of scoundrels?
