A commercial comparing Strasburg with Koufax, Ryan, and Gibson?
That is off the hook. WOW!!!
***PS....As a lifelong Dodger fan, who hates the Giants. I would of loved to have seen in that mix one of the greatest pitchers ever (IMO).....Juan Marichal.
Oh Myyy.....What a pitcher.

Lets not forget that Juan Marichal beaned Willie Davis of the Dodgers just a few years after the Roseboro incident. That caused a mini riot too. No one hated Juan Marichal more than I. But I can't deny that Juan Marichal was one of the greatest (and probably the most underated of the greatest) pitchers in baseball history. Phenominal ***A little trivia that most (probably) don't know. Juan Marichal actually pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers at the end of his career.

Actually, Marichal didn't bean Willie Davis, it was Bill Buckner he beaned. It then started a bench clearing brawl. After the dust had settled (20 minutes later), Willie Davis was the next batter up and hit a homerun on the first pitch.

By the way, Duke Snider was from Fallbrook. Juan wasn't with the Dodgers for long. Maybe a month and made a couple of starts. He had nothing left. The Dodgers also had two of my most hated Giants end their careers with us. Cathers Tom Haller and Dick Dietz.

That is the same year that Chris Speir spit on Bill Buckners shoe in one inning. The next inning Bill Buckner spit in Chris Spiers face. Good stuff. The Willie Davis beaning I remember was before Bill Buckner came up to the Dodgers. I think it broke Davis' jaw.

I miss good baseball brawls where the bullpens met somewhere inbetween center field and 2nd base instead of people starring at eachother.

Man, I had my transiter radio next to my ear in bed every night listening to those great games! There are no rivalries today that even come close. It was real hatred then! But Steve... being from NoCal, I assume you had to listen to Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons to hear the games? I remember Willie McCovey describing the "long ball" to Lon Simmons... he always started with "well Lon..." Remember the "McCovey shift"?..talk about a pull hitter. and you couldn't have hated McCovey...nicest guy ever?

Yes UW....All of my childhood and until about 23 years old was spent listening to Russ Hodges, Lon Simmons, and Bill Thompson. I hated all of them.....but years later (at age 45 or so) I realized they it was a love/hate. I still sit around and I can hear Lon Simmons calling games. I have come to realize that Lon Simmons (and Bill King) are two of my favorite announcers ever. And yes, nobody could hate Willie McCovey. I couldn't root for him, until he became a Padre and I had moved to San Diego. As a Padre I gave him a standing ovation every time he came to the plate. I lived so far north and in the mountains that could only get one radio station in the day time....that would be until about 9pm. At that time KWSD Mt. Shasta would sign off and we could get the Dodgers on KFI. Then we would listen to Vin.
