Now that the MWC board has been invaded by Boise State fans I'm starting to think that BSU is going to reach BYU levels of disgust by Aztec fans.
They have some of the most annoying, myopic fans on the interweb. Just some of the many classic quotes from BSU fan.
"Boise State is above the MWC and belongs in the Pac 10."
"Bronco Stadium makes 30,000 people sound like 100,000."
"The only bottom dweller (CSU/SDSU/WYO/UNLV/UNM) with a chance to beat Boise is Wyoming."
"Boise State is more disciplined than AFA."
At least BYU has a LONG tradition of winning. 2011 Can't come soon enough. I'd love for Coach Hoke and SDSU to slap those Carney Carpet playing mofos around.

I have been on the Boise State board and the ScoutMWC board and the Boise fans have been very respectful and are just really curious about the MWC and where they fit. The problem with the MWC board you are on (In my opinion), is the MOD's are worthless and allow personal attacks. It is a mob mentality. I watched them attack Boise State people over and over on that board before I was attacked myself....and that was long before I got into my arguments over there and was banned to standing up to the idiots. If your MOD's are involved in attacks (which they are on that board), all the idiots will feel it is ok to attack. I suggest all MWC fans to join the MWC linked below. As it grows, it will be 10 times better than the MWC you are frequenting K5... mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=451&f=3741PS....There is a guy on this board named eldermars, who I think has been ran off of the MWC board you are on K5. I think he is known as Mars on the board you are posting on......He has been no problem at all. Just my opinion. |

BYU fans are generally much less annoying than they once were. Absence of their former domination is probably the reason.
Boise fans are indeed obnoxious as hell. Every school has some pricks but Boise's percentage of them rivals what BYU's used to be, as you say James. I think they actually have more potential for problems once they come to Qualcomm because although a lot of them are probably Mormon too, the proportion who are is minuscule compared to BYU, obviously. Therefore, they're likely to drink and become just that much more obnoxious. And if they are and they're still very good and we still suck, I predict altercations will ensue.
On other issues raised by Steve, I have no problem with the MWC board, as he knows. I DO have a problem with ElderMars. As an example, although one could never find it now, on Aztectalk when GoLong! ran it, the guy actually started a thread telling us what a miserable football team we had. That's akin to a rich guy being invited into the home of a poor neighbor and then telling the poor guy what a crummy house he has. Mars hasn't only been driven off our board, he's pretty much been driven off the MWC board and even most members of the Borg can't stand him. Good riddance.

Boise State is New Money, TCU fans are similar though a little more grounded - I really don't have a problem with BYU or their fans. The MWCboard is a good one

Maybe we should try to imagine SDSU fans if we were to win big for 4 or 5 years; my feeling is that we would be unbearable. Think about it, we are the ONLY MW team to have not gone bowling and we still get: We should never ever lose to New Mexico (or Wyo or CSU), even when all things point to the fact that they have been the better team. That, in my opinion, is off the scale arrogance. Maybe it's just certain posters - but they seem to be the most vocal.

No big deal. Let the Boise fans assume they'll dominate the MWC like they do the WAC. Right now they have that Arizona State arrogance that the 'Devils had during their WAC years. Then got cut down to size when they began play in the Pac. Same thing will likely happen to Boise when they begin MWC play. It's all relative.
However, looking at the big picture we need them to do really well in 2011. If they flop in that inaugural year, the MWC may not qualify for AQ. The pressure is on us bottom feeders too. We have to pick up the slack.

In U$C's case, it's had to do mainly with coaches leaving for the NFL. I don't see Chris Petersen ever doing that. Further, you have to think that with the turd that Dan Hawkins has made of his career since leaving Boise that Petersen is going to be very careful about leaving. As to SDSU, Fanatic makes a great point about how obnoxious many of our fans would be after all the years of losing. It's inferiority complex based and I think that's Boise fans' biggest problem. Regardless of the sparkly W-L percentage, nationally they're generally considered just an overachieving little brother because of the horrible conference they play in. BTW, the thread I loved on the MWC board was the one linking from their own board telling the world about Boise's greatest in such non-football areas as the weather. Something about the weather in Boise being better than almost every MWC location. Well, after graduating from high school, Mom SGF moved from Pocatello to California both because Pocatello was so boring and because of the weather. I'm sure Boise's a bit different, but not that much and I can tell you from personal experience that Pocatello at Christmas may not be Minneapolis, but it's pretty damn uncomfortable. |

I have a friend in Boise and visited a couple years ago. I was unable to attend a football game but did notice right off that Boise State Broncos flags and stickers seemed to be on every other car. They have a passion for their team. I wish there was the same passion here. Then again, what else is there to do in Idaho? Fly fishing looked a bit interesting...maybe.
