I sincerely believe that this is one of the most significant economic articles I have run across. A very important episode that hardly anyone knows anything about. And that's too bad, since its lessons should not be overlooked. mises.org/daily/3788AzWm

Far too interesting to go without comment. I like the question about what got us out of the "Great Depression". Was is Roosevelt's spending or was it the huge deficit spending brought on WW2. It is hard for me to make a real good case for either or even a combination. We were still saving bacon grease and tin foil till the end. It is more likely that the work ethic of the returning "Greatest Generation" in building or rebuilding their lives with hard work and thrift got us on the right track.
