Why does sexual orientation matter? Do people go around teaching about how so and so was a heterosexual or outright exclude homosexuals from teachings?

What a load of crap! Contributions are made by talented people! If matters not what they do or don't do in their private lives. This is a waste of time and money!

What a load of crap! Contributions are made by talented people! If matters not what they do or don't do in their private lives. This is a waste of time and money! Not in all cases IMO. For example, for someone like Helen Keller to have overcome her several disabilities to accomplish what she did, I think that should be taught. Similarly, I recall learning about a guy name Glen McCormick (?) who overcame polio to become a world class runner. So even back in the non-PC days when I attended school, that kind of thing was taught. However, you can bet that social science textbooks will now identify the sexual orientation of people whose gayness didn't in the slightest hinder them from achieving whatever it was they did which was noteworthy. In those cases their homosexuality is in my view completely irrelevant and therefore shouldn't be mentioned. Stuff like this is why I'm a moderate, rather than a liberal, Democrat.
