You took a whole lot of space up to basically agree with what I said, but could not even state the logical conclusion. So you agree that conservatives can vote against tax cuts and with what Goldwater said to the right wing of the Republican party, "Do not associate my name with anything you do. You are extremists, and you've hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have." Somehow, I don't think so. In 1996 Goldwater told Bob Dole, who mounted his presidential campaign with less than ecstatic support from far right, "We're the new liberals of the Republican Party. Can you imagine that?" And today's so called "conservatives" are much farther right than they were in 1996. You're lying to yourself if you don't think that today's conservatives are the antithesis of what Goldwater meant when he "fathered" the conservative movement. Yoda out...

Naw, Obamacare isn't the government takeover of health care, it is the government ruination of health care. And Goldwater would have puked on it. No, it is not the government takeover of health care -- if it were it would not have been supported by the AMA and the health insurance companies. Duh... I'm not an expert on the legislation but, clearly the government now has a more activist role in health care than it did a few months ago. But a "takeover" is nothing more than another typical right wing attempt to scare people through the use of dishonest buzz words. Death panels. Where is the intellectual integrity on the right? At what point do you call out your own for its dishonesty? As for the long table of contents, while that legislation was longer than most, you can find a long table on contents in most groundbreaking legislation -- whether it is supported by the left or the right. One of the reasons that this one is so long is because Obama made so many compromises. In fact, the left is ticked off at him for having made so many compromises -- they wanted a real government takeover of health care. You're treating "Obamacare" as if they got it. Yoda out... If you can read the post again, I said Obamacare wasn't the Government takeover of healthcare, it will the ruination of it. Complete Government control will come after it is destroyed and people demand a solution. Some people are going believe what they want to believe regardless of argument. But to back up my point again, how about looking at Obamacare in the light of its similarity to the "private insurance" based Massachusetts health care system? wizbangblog.com/content/2010/07/07/massachusetts-insurance-commissioner-masscare-will-be-a-train-wreck.phpObamacare will either destroy access/service, the private health insurance industry or the ability to pay (unsustainable) and perhaps the combination of all three. But lap it up if you like. Don't let me stop you.

You must provide the occasion and context that these things were said. You could not draw any conclusion to support your opinion and there is no way Goldwater would be a Democrat on anything other than some social issues.

Today, I'll bet Goldwater IS a Democrat.
And even gets to vote, too!
