the 20 finalists for the USA select team are set and the Fredette made it on but Leonard did not. This team will play and practice against the nba players on the national team this summer and is fantastic exposure is players can hold their own against the pros. I'm not sure if Leonard was even considered for a position but the SF's on the team include Singler (duke), Hopson (tenn), Wright (dayton) and Singleton (florida st.). These (and a few others) are also the SF's likely to get selected ahead of Leonard if he decides to turn pro after next year. Come back for your junior year Kawhi ... don't risk falling to the 2nd round in a lockout year. It will be interesting to see how much time Fredette gets at PG vs SG? espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/katz_andy/id/5364358/usa-select-team-rewards-upperclassmen

The possiblity of a lock out would seem to make it bad decision to leave school early next year, Leonard seems like a dude with his head on his (broad) shoulders - I think he'll be back.

Leonard's a great player, no question. But I'm sure he knows he can still improve.

I've got no problem with Jimmer being selected, he's earned the spot. Leonard will have his chance soon. The problem that I have is Jimmer coming back to play this year, period. The aztecs have shown that they can't guard him.

Who HAS shown they can guard him? Kid scores on just about everybody. he'll get a chance to see if he can score on deron williams, brandon roy and the best defenders in the nba. he has a chance to solidify himself against these guys. even if he can't guard them, as long as he can score, he'll get drafted in the 1st round. it will be interesting to see who is our best wing/guard defender? I would think Franklin would be the best, simply because of his length and quickness ... but Tapley may have worked hard on his lateral quickness and on-ball D. I would assume both Tapley and Franklin are much better defenders than Rahon, though.

Gentlemen, when the Coach gives a player the "green light" to shoot the ball and do whatever you want to when you have the ball, it is very difficult to defend said player. Granted, Fredette can make shots, but I doubt this year that he will get off shots against the Aztecs like he did last year!
Great honor Fredette to get selected to practice against the Pros, but this could be a dangerous move for him because he will get exposed! I agree with prior poster's comment that Leonard time will come. Fredette is like a lot of past and present College players who's game is defined by the "system" that he is plays in.
If Leonard would have played in a free-wheeling system, took every shoot, averaged 30 points a game, along with leading the Nation in rebounding as a Freshman, he would have been a NBA Lottery pick!
We'll see what happens this year when the SDSU plays BYU. I believe SDSU will beat BYU at the Hotel Center and Viejas Arena next season!
