San Antonio Missions are on fire. They are 12-2 over the past couple of weeks and now have a record of 44-19. These are basically the same group of players who 2 years ago had the best record in baseball at Fort Wayne ("A") and last year won the first half of the Cal League at Lake Elsinore, by a wide margin, before fading. They lead the league in scoring and they also lead in ERA. Their average age is league average and their best players are all below the average age. Players Source11 - 2008 Draft 04 - Foreign Players Draft 03 - 2009 Draft 02 - 2010 Draft 01 - Each from 2005, 2006, 2007 Drafts 03 - Minor League FA Anthony Bass who pitched a great game on Monday came from San Antonio. He was a 5th round draft choice in 2008. The first of many in this group who will contribute mightily to the Padres.

Seems pretty composed too, first start in the bigs, at Coors Field and he handled it well.

I hope he eventually makes it up again and does well in the bigs.

Update:
48-20
Lead the league in:
Pitching ERA Strikeouts Fewest Home Runs Allowed WHIP Holds Saves
Hitting Runs scored (by 55 runs) HR Doubles BA SLG OBP OPS (by .081) They are 30-6 at home.
San Antonio is the largest city in the Texas League (by far), they have the best record in the league (by far), their ball park is known as "The Jewel of the Texas League", but they average the fewest fans per game (4,065). Is that a big city feeling they are beyond supporting a "AA" team?

Let's trade teams with them and maybe the Pads can climb out of the cellar
SAn Antonio having a AA team is like San Diego having a minor minor league hockey team.
