Over the next two weeks the Padres will add Rizzo, Hundley, Hudson, and Maybin to the roster. They will replace players who all bat badly
.182 Rob Johnson .208 Alberto Gonzalez .165 Eric Patterson .158 Blake Tekotte .111 Aaron Cunningham .162 Logan Forsythe
two of those listed above will stay but not start and other four will be gone.
When the Padres get those 4 on the roster they will have a solid starting 8 and a solid DH available when we play 9 games in which a DH will be neccessary. Nary a .200 hitter in sight.
I think the Padres will make a move in the standings. It is not over yet. It would help if Clayton Richard and Stauffer start pitching as they did last year.

Hey, two of those guys you wanted to see up in the bigs and now you say "they bad badly". I wouldn't go that far but so far the stats indicate that they are not hitting well.
I suspect with enough at bats, Cunningham and Patterson would be above .200 as past performance indicates that they would. Two of the others, Tekotte and Forsythe were rated fairly high in the minor league system and aren't hitting ML pitching yet. Will Rizzo? I hope so but no guarantees. The other 3 are mystery meal as to where they'll finish up the season.
"Nary a .200 hitter in sight." Maybe. Let's sure hope all of that roster starts whacking the ball all over the yard.

Wanting to see them in the bigs doesn't mean I want them starting for the Padres. Injuries made their presence necessary. It is interesting to watch them play but we will be better off when the injured players return and Rizzo is promoted. It will take 4 weak positions and makes them better. That will improve the Padres offense considerably. Tekotte and Forsythe are not anywhere near Rizzo as far as being prospects. Rizzo is the top batter in "AAA" at the age of 21. His up side is huge. He should be a big star.

Rizzo needs to control the zone better and get at-bats against lefties. Part of the reason why he isn't up yet. I think he's best served staying in AAA as long as possible. We want the kid to stay up for good.

We want the kid to stay up for good. Rizzo = Ready I don't mean Randy. The Padres are winning against lefties. The Padres don't need help against lefties. They desperately need a hitter who can kill right handed pitching. Padres hitting by pitcher handednessALHP .257 .326 .360 .687 ARHP .224 .292 .328 .620 The Padres need someone now that can hit right handed pitching. They have very few left handed hitters. Rizzo will be a big lefty in the middle of the lineup. That will allow Hawpe to play right field giving us a lefty in our all righty outfield. Rizzo will be here very soon.

I just hope Denorfia isn't effected by any of the moves and brought down.

I just hope Denorfia isn't effected by any of the moves and brought down. The Padres will juggle 4 good outfielders. That is a good thing. Hawpe will play every game a lefty starts. Denorfia should not play CF when Harang or Stauffer are pitching. I would sit Ludwick more at home than on the road. He has really suffered in Petco Park. Denorfia can play LF, CF, and RF and get plenty of at bats. It will always give the Padres a good hitter on the bench. Maybin should enter the game as a defensive replacement (with a lead) when ever he doesn't start.

He's better than TGJr. I think he's a very, very good defensive CF and was starting to be very productive at bat when he first got hurt. He should never be out of the lineup if healthy. ** Just re-read your post. I got you. I had formulated my answer before reading the last part of the sentence. Bad on me. Almost a selective reading issue there on my part. ;D**

My one fear with Rizzo is bringing him up and he feels like he must hit like he did in the minors. bat him 6th or 7th for a while to allow him to get adjusted to Petco and big league ball.
When we put Blanks at cleanup last year he just was not ready. Should've kept him down low in the batting order to alleviate any pressure on him (of course he then got hurt and it became a moot point).
For Rizzo's sake I hope they keep him low in the order, 6 or 7, the rest of the year. Hell, Petco messed up an established big league power hitter in Ludwick for close to a year between the last half of last season and the first half of this season.
