Talk about falling off the planet. Has there been ANY news or word on what he is doing?

I thought the same thing a while ago, I searched for any info on him and could find nothing - (allegedly) defrauding a public institution to bang some flooze cross country has ramifications I guess.

No one seemed to like the guy very much.

I attended a bbq with him as well as played golf with the guy and both times, he seemed like a good guy to me. Heck, the guy brought (not bought) us beers on the course.

No one seemed to like the guy very much. I liked Jeff very much. Got to play a few rounds of golf with him at our tournament the last few years. I know he was very excited about Aztec athletics and the progress that was happening...overall. Too bad most of you couldn't sit down and discuss issues with him. Too bad things turned out the way they did for him. BUT, it was his fault, and another positive came out of it in the form of Jim Sterk. I heard from a few sources, but not personally verified, that Jeff has hooked up with a law firm in Kansas. I'm sure more to follow.

No one seemed to like the guy very much. Count me as one of them. He got off on somewhat of a bad foot by making a derogatory comment about a question I asked at his intro in the athletic department conference room. Then he answered probably only two of the dozen or so e-mails I sent him over the years. It was very apparent the guy wouldn't respond to even the most minor criticism and for somebody whose job is primarily PR, that's ridiculous. (IIRC, Weber is batting 1.000 in the response category, BTW.) Then there was how badly Schemmel botched what was by far the most important decision of his SDSU tenure: replacing Tom Craft. So color me pleased that he's gone.

I can relate, I went to his and the other guys open interview, I asked a question, and I felt he jumped down my throat perhaps because I was the only one under 40 there - that did not ingratiate me to him. I did like that he was always at the basketball games and I'm sure he was a nice guy and all, but he botched his one big hire, the rest were already there for him, and I was relieved when he was laid up, Weber was conducting the first interviews himself and a committee was there for the second interviews and to offer their suggestion to the president.

Out of athletics for sure.

I thought the same thing a while ago, I searched for any info on him and could find nothing - (allegedly) defrauding a public institution to bang some flooze cross country has ramifications I guess. I always find it interesting that we have names (floozy, slut, etc.) for women who screw around but no names for men. Not busting your chops, just stating something I find interesting. =Bob

... "cheater", "male chauvinistic pig ", "loser", "liar", "smuck", "gigolo", "male whore" would describe those men who skip out on their marital rites...
...?

I was in the group that like Jeff and i give him a lot of credit for the hiring of Hoke and the boosting of the funding for the football program.
He was always more than happy to drive to Los Angeles for a chance to meet with the LA alumni. I can't say that about some prior Athletic directors who did not even speak to me directly when I asked about a speaking opportunity.

I have heard almost nothing bad from anybody who knew Jeff or spoke to him often. He was always good to me and very friendly. I think he did a very good job here. I wish him the best of luck.

I bet Schemmel's role in hiring Hoke was no more than Weber telling him that was the guy and handing him a pen. not so sure he had anything to do with that. I was in the group that like Jeff and i give him a lot of credit for the hiring of Hoke.

Yea, the schem did not interview the applicants, whether he was consulted (At all) that we don't know, but this was the Weber, Faulk, Sipe and some others show.
