When I moved to San Diego in high school and asked what the "S" stood for my new high school friends told me "sex" or "screwing". It was not until I went to State that I learned the truth. ;D The truth that it stood for all of the above?

That's what I see but cannot be sure if that was the original spot or not. Doubtful... That picture looks wierd. Is it real?

if you go to google maps, and look near the top, there is an area that has rocks that are lighter or "whiter" in color than anywhere else on the mountain. Can someone confirm this as the spot?

I don't know for certain but I definitely can see white on the mountain that you would be able to see from Aztec Bowl/Viejas Arena directly.

That S needs to be up there. end of discussion Forget "S"......How about "SDSU"? Make it just like the giant HOLLYWOOD sign. Oh, and move that freeway jumbotron over there too. OK, now you can end the discussion.

we should do blood sacrifices up there before every home game. Looking at your signature.........lets start with "The Rock". Make sure he's wearing that pink Tooth Fairy outfit. Do we have the Hurricanes scheduled in SD any time soon? Attachments:

Here is the Google Maps image, from the direction of the Aztec Bowl. BTW - I like the Hollywood sign idea of, "SDSU" in white. Then have scarlet lights light it up at night when there is an evening "home" event. Attachments:

Nothing is going up on Cowles Mtn. permanently ever again.
The closest thing that could maybe happen would be to do the alumni hike at night and do it with flashlights just like Dr. Janssen did in the 90's.

If I'm not mistaken, in recent years Dr. Jannsen, my old Political Theory prof, was the lead guy. I think he died about 10 years ago Dr. Jannsen is still alive.

Here is the Google Maps image, from the direction of the Aztec Bowl. BTW - I like the Hollywood sign idea of, "SDSU" in white. Then have scarlet lights light it up at night when there is an evening "home" event. That image appears to be the west side of the mountain (notice the trail to the right). Aztec Bowl is (was) South and slightly West of the mountain. But I do see how the white area could have an "S" hidden under the brush. I just don't know how visible that would be from SDSU. I'm sure an oldtimer with a good memory could confirm.

I positioned the camera angle over Aztec Bowl then zoomed in, so that is the correct angle. Maybe an old timer could confirm where it was compared to the trail and was it after the switch backs on the trail

30 years from now, some young-un will come across a photo of Zuma and say "What happened to this great tradition of a furry cat at games? We need to resurrect it!"
That's what's happening with the pro-S folks in this thread.
