This is they guy we should go after before the trade deadline. He is young and would add tons of pop hitting either in front of Adrian or between Adrian and Chase. He is a solid shortstop so we can move Hairston back to being a backup. I say we trade Cabrera, a reliever and a prospect for him. I know he has had some issues in Florida but maybe a change of scenery would help him.
His current numbers .302 avg, 13 HR's

No way would the Marlins let him go, unless you offer the farm like HK 908 said.
Cabrera is fine at short. We need a corner outfielder.

Is Florida shopping him? how many more years would we control him?
He would be very expensive but is also worth a ton.

A fact proven a million times. I would question his heart more than his smarts. Either way he is a pipe dream. Remember no big names until the ownership deal is completed.

Hanley's Contract 09:$5.5M 10:$7M 11:$11M 12:$15M 13:$15.5M 14:$16M
If we did trade for him it would be a good indication that they would not even make an attempt at resigning AG.

Your description about heart rather than smarts is probably a better description of what I was trying to imply. I thought what he said about his manager this year was completely asinine and spoke volumes about where his head is at. As to not having to be smart to play baseball, well let's just say that after coaching HS baseball for 10 years that I'll agree to disagree with you on this one.

Hanley isn't available which is why they fired Gonzalez. But Cabrera has been anything but fine this year

Hanley isn't available which is why they fired Gonzalez. But Cabrera has been anything but fine this year Usually I can interpret what you intend with a post but that first sentence has me stumped. They fired Gonzalez because they are not winning as much as the owner thought they should. Hanley not being available is not something the manager can control other than by winning and losing. But losing more would make him more available not less. They are not winning much. How could he be fired due to a change in the availability of Hanley? Like I said, I am stumped.

No they fired Gonzalez because Hanley didn't like the manager and he basically has the end say on the Marlins which is pathetic
