I have not heard that, but I tend to believe that if it was stated it was a self serving rat ionization for running a bad campaign for a bad candidate against what should have been low hanging fruit in Obama.

It was in a book or article written by the mccain camp; it was also something that was reported on by mainstream news (though flowery and in euphemism , something like a summit with the mccain/palin camps to discuss foreign policy) during the campaign. Was the after the fact self-serving, of course, was it false - I surely don't think so.

It substantiates that it was said if the reporter can be believed. Still sounds like that campaign strategist covering his and McCain's short comings. I don't think Palin is anywhere near perfect, but she was a net plus to the Republican campaign. He is plainly doing more good for Conservatives now than Biden is for liberals.
