Since when did "muslim" become a dirty word? So what if he is muslim? I agree with you, although I think he was just trying to be funny. That said, I was speaking politically, not religiously. Which is to say that, strictly in terms of the politics, I don't care about Easter -- or any other religious holiday of any other religion. Historical revisions to the contrary, we were not actually founded as a Christian nation. Jefferson, Franklin and many others were Deists -- they believed in God but not in one who wanted a personal relationship with us -- which means that, in their view, there was no need for Jesus Christ, for salvation, etc. It's not surprising really that those who would revolt against the British crown would revolt as well against the religion that the British crown used to control its citizens. Yoda out...

What's more, on March 20, President Barack Obama even videotaped an "important message" that was more than four minutes long commemorating Nowruz, the Persian New Year that Iranians celebrate. In it, the president said, "You — the young people of Iran — carry within you both the ancient greatness of Persian civilization, and the power to forge a country that is responsive to your aspirations."Unfortunately the right-wing idiots who run NewsMax wouldn't know the definition of "stirring the pot" if it hit them in the face nor would most of their ignorant readers. =Bob

Yoda out... Exactly, they left Britain because they didn't want religion and they didn't want to be told what to believe. They were all intelligent enough to know that religion was just a means of controlling the people. Americans refuse to believe that our country was founded by pot smoking deists, they would rather believe that our president is a Kenyan muslim. I guess ignorance is bliss!

Well, a fair number of the Founding Fathers were Deists but the Puritans certainly were not. They left England because the Church of England was persecuting them but that didn't stop them from persecuting anyone who didn't toe the line once they got here. =Bob
