Portillo has about a 9.00 ERA in Low-A. Not something to write home about, even if he's younger than everyone.

Portillo's very young, even for the Midwest League. Still a bit concerned. He needs to get his command down.

funny that Bill didn't mention that both Lake Elsinore and Ft Wayne are in LAST place in their respective divisions. Their records mirror the Pads.

Elsinore is three games out of second. What's of bigger concern is Rey Fuentes leaving the game after being hit by a pitch. That's not good news.

Last place is last place no matter how many games out you are. Let's hope the Storm starts to kick some butt. I enjoy games there whenever I trek up north.

Well Ft Wayne and Lake Elsinore are now both out of last place but are mirroring the Pads record.

This 19 year old kid out of Venezuela, Luis Domoromo, playing in A ball at Ft Wayne has caught my attention. Here is his stat line as of today. www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/88230Bill or Ryan, do you have any insight on this kid? Good stats in the MWL and nice size for a ball player, especially at his young age.

Good stats in the MWL and nice size for a ball player, especially at his young age. At the bottom of his MiLB page, they have the following note: Signed by the San Diego Padres as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2008. ... Ranked by ESPN as the fifth-best Latino Prospect in 2008.Looking at his stats, I notice that he moved up a level over last year and improved. It is always a good sign when a player is young for the level and then moves to a new level the following year and improves. 2009 DSL....... .239 .377 .322 .698 - 17 years old 2010 Eugene .274 .314 .345 .659 - 18 years old 2011 FtWayne .315 .381 .457 .837 - 19 years old Paul DePodesta use to Blog for the Padres. I really miss it. But his old entries are a good source. Here is his entry about foreign players signed in 2008.Luis Domoromo is a 16-year old OF from Venezuela who has an advanced approach at the plate. Luis has a strong arm and is a good athlete, so we expect him to be a solid corner outfielder, but his bat is what has the chance to be special. He can hit the ball to all fields and projects to have legitimate power. Luis was ranked as the #2 position player prospect in Venezuela.
Paul's entry was about 5 players the Padres signed: Adis Portillo (RHP), Alvaro Aristy (SS), Luis Domoromo (OF), Corey Adamson (INF/OF), and Elvin Tavarez (RHP). Adis Portillo is at Fort Wayne Luis Domoromo is at Fort Wayne Alvaro Aristy is in Arizona IL Corey Adamson is in Arizona IL Elvin Tavarez - Gone

Last 7 starts 4.56 ERA One of the 7 was a 0.2 innings 4 run affair. Without that one: 6 starts 3.13 ERA. Last night: 4 Innings 1 ER 5 Ks. His best was on June 3: 5 innings, 1 hit, 8Ks.

Keep your eye on Rymer Liriano. His biggest problem has been his K rate. If he can make contact more often, he has a bright future. He has almost 40 steals for Fort Wayne.
