Long Beach releases its schedule. Aztec men's basketball plays on the road, Saturday November 13, at Long Beach State 4:05 PM. That will be quite an opening game. LBSU should be pretty good.
Sat November 13 at LBSU Thu November 18 at Arizona. Tough. We need to go 2-0.

Some are demanding a tougher schedule for the Aztecs.
That is not the way I would like to open up the season....on the road against a very good team.
We need to go up there and take that game.

My old Alma Mater, CSULB. I've never been inside the big blue pyramid, it was finished after I graduated. I used to play pick up with Luscious Harris. I may make the trip and check it out. Then hit Hofs Hut on PCH afterwards. Oldie Out

We watched the women win there a couple of year's ago. I expect my trips to result in a 2-0 record this year. Football plays at TCU 1 PM. I can see the first half before driving to Long Beach. It works out because the game may be over by halftime

At LB St and at Arizona to open the year is pretty damn tough. A 2-0 start would be very impressive. I would assume that we probably have a few tune ups with Pt Loma Nazarene or UCSD?
Holy crap Long B St has a tough OOC schedule this year!!! ...
SDSU, Loyola Marymount, BYU, North Carolina, Clemson, Washington, Utah St, St Marys, ASU and a tourney that features the teams Old Dominion, Xavier, Seton Hall, Alabama ... ! They are either going to get annihilated, or win a few and have a top 50 RPI.
These first 2 games will give us of those coveted "quality road wins" we need every year come selection time.

That is a very tough start of the season. Need to be prepared and ready to roll - and with all the starters returning, we should be - no St. Mary's first 5 minute beat down

I believe LBSU has the Monson kid as coach. He's the one who started the Gonzaga gig, then went to Minnesota & got fired and is now building the 49er's. This will not be an easy game!

He took over 3 years ago and inherited a 6 win team ... and has won 15 and 17 games the last 2 years. They are returing almost everyone from last years team and have extremely high expectations heading into next year. They are a rising team that is also a rival for recruits in the SoCal area as well.

It's been awhile since the LB 49ers have been this good. Last time they were led by coach Seth Greenberg and they upset #1 Kansas back in '92.
Oldie Out

Well, daughter #3 will be a freshman at Long Beach this year, and you can see the Pyramid from her dorm. So, I will record the FB game and head on down to LB.
BTW, daughter #2 was at CP-SLO during the "I can't believe we lost to those guys years." Hope that trend doesn't continue.
Daughter#1 was an Aztec.

Also, our center back then was a transfer from...San Diego State, I believe...forgot that dude though. His backup was in my fraternity. I don't remember much else.

Oldie Out Listened to that game on the radio while at work. Beat 'em like 64-49 in Kansas. I was walking on air after that game. Too bad the previous game we lost to NC Charlotte (or is it just Charlotte) by something like 50 points and then came home after the win at Kansas and lost to friggin' Northridge.
