What would you think of someone who desires to be a head football coach but has never played the game and does not understand the basic rules of that sport? I suspect you would quickly laugh and say something such as, "Good luck!" And you would be quite correct. Which brings us to Barack Hussein Obama. One of my most serious doubts about Barack Obama was that he had virtually no experience working in business or industry. At the same time it seemed clear that he was steeped in the political tradition that, at best, is ignorant of or, at worst, openly hostile to private enterprise. The result is that he holds positions that completely misinterpret how markets work. When the man who holds the national veto pen is more or less clueless as regards how economies actually function to create wealth, great harm to that system can be done. Here is a piece that explains this better than I could. I wish the President would read, and take to heart, its lessons. www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/08/26/debate_shows_how_little_obama_understands_98040.htmlAzWm PS: For the record, Stossel has won nineteen Emmy awards.

I would go a step further and say that it would be virtually impossible for a man like Obama to understand free market operation or free enterprise when his limited experience before political office was as a junior lawyer and as an anti-business and anti-democracy community agitator whose purpose was to oppose free market thinking, individual effort, and to cripple and badger business and government entities. Hardly an opportunity to get a healthy perspective of what free enterprise and free markets are all about.

Very few, if any, presidents have had extensive business experience. Bush II - Oil business 1979 - 1984, Texas Rangers figurehead. Roosevelt - None Let's check these off, one by one. Nixon, Ford, and Eisenhower had no business experience to speak of, that's true. But all three served in the military, which Obama did not. Eisenhower's military record was monumental, and a priceless preparation for the office of Chief Executive. G.H.W. Bush. Fifteen years in the oil business qualifies. Check! (His overall experience is arguably the most impressive of all U.S. Presidents.) Carter. Check! (Though it didn't prevent him from being one of the most feckless Presidents in history!) FDR. No business experience (which is too bad, since his hanlding of the Depression betrayed his ignorance of how economies work and don't work.) However, he got valuable executive experience in the Dept. of War (as it was called then) and as governor. Truman. Check! Clinton. None that I know of. His presidency was saved by the Republican Congress, however. G.W. Bush. A figurehead? How do you know he had no real power in that organization? In any event, it's doubtful that he wouldn't have gained some knowledge in that role in any case. AzWm
