That's what I think too. I've been very impressed with every verbal we've gotten to this point. However, no offense to the young man but this one sure seems to be the kind of recruit that typified the Chuck Long regime. You mean like Vincent Brown? Chuck Long would still be here if Vincent Brown was typical Chuck Long recruit.

Because he grew a few inches over the summer and is now 6'3 (and probably still growing) and still runs a 4.5 are the only reasons the staff took a chance on him, I would think. You are crazy if you think that Hoke and staff offered a player a scholarship this early because he grew a few inches and can still run a 4.5. He offered him because he can play. I think everyone puts too much stock on 40 times. Even if a kid is fast, he has too be able to play. We need players, not just guys who are fast (although fast guys who can play would be optimal). Also, remember that the # of stars a player has makes NO difference to coach Hoke. If you are a Jr. and don't go to a lot of camps, you will not have 3 stars. The staff does their own evaluations and if you believe they have an eye for talent, then it doesn't matter how many stars they have.

Trust me. I looked hard but couldn't find a single thing. This is a really strange commit but not just because the kid is such an unknown. To repeat, his school has only been in existence for two years. I remember thinking that Jake Bernards was an aberration in coming from a school which had only been in existence for four years, but two? The one thing which makes me a bit less concerned is that the West Adams Prep coach was very successful at North Hollywood High and as we all know, nothing is more important than coaching. BTW, the photo I linked is of Sheffield as just a sophomore. So my guess is he looks quite a bit different today.

He's not really an unknown to the coaches if he camped at SDSU.

The kid only had like 11 catches last year. Not much to see on film other than his blocking and running. #7 was the key for this team last year. It is what it is, but it sounds like he will be the #7 of this years team.
